MAY. 1960 WEAVING NO. 1 1ST SHIFT By Alta Riser Mr. and Mrs. Bill Terry and daughter visited Mrs. D. H. Jackson in Columbia this week end. Cynthia Madden had her tonsils removed in Greenville General Hospital. Mrs. Bessie Queen and Mrs. Eloree Cunningham visited Mrs. Watt Stuart in Laurens recently. Mrs. Pearl Queen and son visited Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Queen recently. Mrs. Sadie Quinton has returned home after a weeksstay in Self-Memorial Hospital. WEAVING NO. 1 3RD SHIFT By Neola McCall We are glad to have Jack Dunaway back with us after four years with the U. S. Navy. Also Bobby Thomas who has comnleted six months I active duty in the army. WEAVING NO. 2 2ND SHIFT By Leila Black Mr. and Mrs. CI. O. Thomason and family visited their parents in Greenville last week end. Mr. and Mrs. Harrv Black and children visited Mr. and Mrs. James Gossett and family in Spartanburg last Sunday. Tommy Lanford and Pat Bowick of Chappels had a marvelous time at the JuniorSenior Prom last Fridav night. Mr. and Mrs. Troy Shealv ^\2S a \ ^_f, Barbara Black, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Harry Black. Clintor Mills, celebrated her 7th birthday May 26. of Greenwood visited Mr. and Mrs. W. R. THE CLOTHMAKER Hope you folks will like our community. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Putnam and Wallace are planning to attend the graduation of Mrs. Putnam's niece May 27 at Edgefield High. Glad to welcome Mrs. Lucille Jennings and William Lawson Lambert, Jr. to the first shift?Weaving r3. Both come to us from third shift. Mrs. Jennings tells us that her daughter. Doris, who lost her eyesight some time ago and underwent four operations on her eyes has regained her evesieht for which we are very thankful. Mrs. Jennings and another daughter. Becky, accompanied Doris to Charlotte for her visit to Dr. Sloan for the regular monthly check up on her eyes. Have any of you noticed the new flower house going up behind Ethel and Evans Lever's home? Or maybe I should have said new cactus house for she'll never find room for anything else. Ed finally ran out of excuses for not building it after Ethel bought him a power saw. We want to congratulate Mrs. Missouri Wilkie and the C. E. Roberts. Both have a new daughter-in-law. C. E. Roberts. Jr. (Robbie to most of you) and Joyce Faulk were united in marriage on Sunday afternoon. April 24. bv the Rev. J. W. Spillers at the homo of the grooms parents in the presence of a small gathering of close relatives and friends. A small reception was held immediately following the ceremony after which the couple left for a short wedding trip to the mountains. They are making their home in Pickens where Robbie will be working with the high w a y department. Joyce is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Faulk, formerly of this city, but now residing in Norway, S. C. Oh ? about Missouri's daughter-in-law. You'll find a picture of her and an account of the wedding elsewhere in this paper. We sincerely hope both couples will be supremely happy and live to a ripe old age together. Mrs. E. J. Campbell is recuperating at her home following a stav at Havs Hospital. Mis. Moll Huev. Mrs Joyce Handback, Mrs. J. E. Braswell. Sr.. Mrs. Banna Braswell and Ruth were called to Columbia recently due to the >9 f JH "Look. Mommy" I am taking my first stop. Get everything out of my reach for I want to see what all those things are made of. This little bright eyed girl is Christie Ivester who celebrated her first birthday May 8th. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arzo Ivester. Clinton Mills. death of the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Wert Jennings. Mrs. Inabell Hooper and Mrs. Grace Wooten accompanied them. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hooper announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda, to Mr. Grady Worthy. The wedding will be in June. Mr. Worthy is the nephew of Mrs. Izell Campbell. Seaman John Lee Simmons is on tour of four months duty in Cuba. C.W.O. L. E. Wood of Charleston and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood and Children of Greenwood spent a week end recently with Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Williams an rl \T r arif) \T Wilkes visited Jack Williams in Columbia on a recent Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dessie Webb spent a week in Davenport. Florida in April with his brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Comer Webb. Their mother. Mrs. Evelyn Webb, who accompanied them remained for a longer visit. Took your vacation kinda early, didn't you Dessie0 Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gibbs and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Gibbs visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hardy in Westminster. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Terry spent Mother's Day with her sister, Mrs. John Brown, near Ware Shoals. Mrs. Li 11 io Cox of Anderson spent a little more than two weeks visiting friends in Clinton and ministering in music and song. I'm sure that all who have heard "Aunt Lillie" play the accordian and sing have received a blessing from it and to be around her and talk with her is an insniratinn to ani-ono * r v.*. , v/'.v. 4/v l"> blind hasn't stopped her witnessing for Christ nor kept her from being cheerful and helpful to anyone with whom she comes in contact. May she visit us again soon. Mrs. Missouri Wilkie spent some time in Rlalock Clinic recently with an injured knee received in a fall at home. We sincerely hope she will 3 soon be completely recovered. Little Dianne Alexander, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Alexander, look part in School of Dance Recital at Mary Musgrove Hotel. WEAVING NO. 3A 2ND SHIFT By Inez Blackwell Hi Folks: By the time this paper comes out, school will be out and I hope the weather will be warmer. We don't have very much news this time. Maybe it's because the weather is too cool. Mr. and Mrs. David Pulley and children, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Gilliland, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and son, Jimmie Sexton and Harrison Hamilton enjoyed a barbecue dinner a Sunday recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Longshore at Joanna. Mrs. Cecil Spurlock and children of Charleston recently visited her sister, Mrs. Marcell Barker, and family. Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Harrill spent a Sunday with Mr. Harrill's mother, Mrs. J. Eva Pulley had a little accident recently. Seems as how she wanted to try out the new lawn mower, but she seems to have forgotten there was a blade on the underneath side and cut her big toe. Remember Eva to put your foot on top of the mower to crank it from now on and not under the mower. (Just Kidding Eva) but we're all glad the accident wasn't worse.
