MARCH. 1960 WEAVING NO. 1 2nd Shift By Beatrice Hawks Well, folks, it is a bright sunshiney day and the ice is melting right along. It was pretty, but I for one will be mighty glad when it is gone and the weather warms up. Oh, well, we are never satisfied are we? Sure hope no one got hurt on the ice. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Bradford and son, Dean, of Columbia. visited Mr. and Mrs. Dorsev Turner and family recently. Mr. John Medlock, who has been spending several weeks with his daughter and son-inlaw. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Alexander, has returned to home in Liberty. S. C. Herbert Vaughn, son of Ernest Vaughn, who is making his home with his sister, Mrs. Susie Hawks. He has been stationed abroad for 13 months. He will report to Charleston, S. C.. where he and his wife, the former Marie Moblev, of Greenwood, will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Fortner, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Still and Miss Patricia Fortner. of Greenwood, v i si t c d Mrs. Susie Hawks. Glad to report Mrs. Velma Coker has returned to her home after being a patient at Medical College Hospital in Charleston for several days. Robert Butler says his brother. Tommy, is home on furlough from Japan where he has been stationed for two arid a half years. Robert says this is for the benefit of the single girls around here. Daisy and Albert Cothran have started building their new home. Daisy says that is all we will hear until they get it done. 1 don't blame her. that is something to bo proud of. Ernest Vaughn, Herbert. and Marie Vaughn visited Mr. and Mrs. II. L. Vaughn in Ila. (leorjpa. reeentlv. I.ucv Robinson spent a day in Greenville recently. (Had to hear Mr. Wehunt is back after being out sick several days. Mrs. Clyde Crov enjoyed a birthday March 9. Mrs. Ralph Alexander had a birthday March 4. Mr. Alexander sa'd although she is a year older she is just as pretty as ever, in fact the older she gets the prettier she gets. What a nice compliment from your husband. Mrs Alexander. L. I,. Mr. Louie Black and Hovt Powell of Travelers Rest visited Mr. Harrv Black Sunday. Mrs. Rave Madden's brothers, whom she hadn't seen for quite a few vears were supper guests with her Saturday. Thev were Prenson Morgan of Maryland and Mr. Roy Morgan of Wake. Texas. Mr. and Mrs. James McMillian. Linda. Jimmv and Kav visited Mr. and Mrs. ( Aubrev Nelson in Whitmire recently. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Butler and Mr. Butler visited Mrs. ( Butler's brother. F'. C. Presslev. who is a natient nt Vet eran Hospital in Columbia. Mr. L. R. Knox of Williamston visited Mr. and Mrs. Harrv Black and familv. Joe McCall. Bill Campbell and Tommy Landlord visited the mountains Sunday. Glad to report F. L. Wilson. father of Shirley Stroud, is improving after being a patient at Hays Hospital. Iris Turner, daughter of Albert Turner, will play in the basketball game at Joanna tomorrow. Steven Randold Metts celebrated a birthday March 26. Mrs. Lucille Jenning. Doris and Becky visited in Charlotte, N. C., Tuesday. Mrs. Evelyn Thompson and Mrs. Jeanette Gillian and Keith, and Anne visited in Landrum recently. Mr. and Mrs. Steward Jenning were called to Wayneville, N. C., recently because of the death of Mrs. Jennings grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lawson announce the birth of a daughter. Donna Elaine, March 4. She weighed 6 lbs. and 13 ounces. Mrs. Clark Merdors was called to Washington due to the death of her father. WEAVING NO. 3 1st Shift By Mildred Kinard and Grace Wooten Cllad to report some of our sick folks are on the mend. "Petesie" Barker and also her grandmother, Mrs. A. A. Bar ker, are recovering at home after being seriously ill. "Petesie" was a patient at Newberry hospital for several weeks and Mrs. Barker a patient at Hays. Mr. R. T. Trammell is recuperating at home after undergoing surgery at Greenville General Hospital. Mr. John W. "Dad" Arnold has returned to his home after being a patient at Hays Hospital for 10 days. Glad to report his condition is very much improved. Mrs. Emma May field was delightfully surprised on her 71st birthday with a dinner at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Emily McNinch. All her children and grandchildren were present. A good time was had by all. Mrs. A. G. Galloway celebrated her birthday March 5. On Sunday Mrs. Galloway was honored with a dinner at her home. Several of her children were present for the occasion. Mary Terry celebrated her birthday March 4. Marv says she used to count the months and years, now she's counting the days until she will be able to retire. Mrs. Bozard is the former Miss Nell Canfield. granddaughter of the J. E. Braswells, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. George Tucker are the proud parents of a babv boy born March 1 at Hays Hospital. The little fellow has been named Ylirlrov Dale. The mother is the former Miss "Pat" Cunningham and the proud father is one of our cloth doffers of -3 Weave. Congratulations, Pat and George. Bobby Joe Galloway, youngest son of the A. G. Galloways. graduated from Clinton High School. He entered service and after a fo"r year tour of duty with Uncle Sam he entered the University of Minnesota from which he will graduate next spring. Bobby Joe plans to teach and coach football. While in service Bobby Joe met and married the former Miss Patricia Mills of Georgetown. Minn They have two lovely little daughters. Theresa and Tammv.
