RINK
Clinton-Lydia children of
all ages are taking full ad

skating rinks recently
opened for their healthful
recreation and pleasure. The
links were officially opened
on December 28th. Mrs. Emma
Cornelson, director and
only living child of the late
Mercer Silas Bailey. Founder
and First President of the
mills, clipped the ribbons opening
the Clinton rink to the
cheers and applause of some
850 Mercer Bailey School children
about 1:00 P.M. Mrs.
Eloise Bailey had performed
identical honors at Lydia's
Providence School in the presence
of the student body in
the late morning. The Lvdia
dedicatory ceremony w a s
aired over local radio station
WPCC as were portions and
commentaries of the Clinton
service.
i'resident Kobert M. Vance
commented briefly at the dedications.
"These 375 foot concrete
skating rink ovals were
provided you bv the Company.
I trust they will afford you
many years of healthful recreation
and aid in building of
strong bodies. Wholesome
recreation is essential in the
development of young bodies
and minds, he said."
Following his r e m a r k s.
President Vance presented a
pair of roller skates to the
lucky ticket holder in each
home room of both schools.

Ole-Timers
Eleven Clinton employees,
ten men and one woman, became
eligible for membership
in the Ole-Timers Club upon
completion of 25 years continuous
service on January 1,
1960.
Mrs. Marv Terry was the
only woman employee to bocome
eligible this year. The
ten men were Messrs. Wade
Beckham. R. E. Campbell,
A. (?. Galloway, Kern Hardman.
E. E. Heaton. F. 11. Jacks.

NEW LIBRARY STARTED AT
MERCER BAILEY SCHOOL
With funds contributed by
interested friends, the M. S.
Bailey School has started a
new library. They plan to
have "Open House" on Thursday
night, February 4. at 7:30
P. M. All parents and friends
are invited to come to see the
new books and hear an interesting
speaker talk on the importance
of good reading for
our children.
