SANTA TO BE PRESENT Santa Claus has accepted an invitation to attend the parties and will be on hand to greet and hear requests of children of all ages. Refreshments of punch, coffee, cookies. candies and popcorn will be served throughout the day in the beautifully decorated cafeterias. The gala Christmas programs are under the direction of the Community Recreation and Athletic Directors: Mrs. Eva Land and Truman Owens at Clinton: Miss Nellie Osborne and Ellis Huffstetler at Lvdia. Dprnratinn fnntoct In Progress The Company is again sponsoring the annual Home Decoration Contest for all residents of the Clinton-Lydia Mills Communities. Kntries will he confined to doorways, windows and lawn or porch decorations. Kach display must be clearly visible from tlu4 street and illuminated from December 17 to December 24. Judging will be done at night by 1 it'ii*(.l persons from outside our communities. Originality, ingenuity and tastefulness will be the points judged. First, second and third place winners in each community will be awarded Christmas fruit cakes. President and Mrs. Vance were quests of honor. The Christmas tree, with its brilliant lights. bright colored balls and sparkling icicles, was the center of attraction in the beautifully decorated cafeteria. Likewise Clinton-Lydia Mills must now pay a tax of 3 cents instead of 2xi cents for each $1.00 it pays you. This tax must be paid, by both you and the Company, on all earnings ? including regular wages, and overtime ?up to $4,800 of your earnings in any calendar year. Bv law the employer is held responsible for deducting the tax from each employee's earnings, for adding an equal amount himself, and for sending the total to the government. Since its inception in 1935 (Continued on Page 8) Lydia Woman's Club Event Staged The Lydia Woman's Club held their annual banquet in November at the Providence School Cafeteria. Mrs. R. E. Whitmire. president. presided and introduced the special guests. Mrs. Sara Word, program chairman, had charge of the prom-am. sne introduced Mr. Dan Yarborough. who showed slides that were taken on his vacation which covered some 25 states and two provinces of Canada. The banquet was prepared by the members, and was served by Sue Word and Melda Satterfield. < >1111111111 it % I loiiso >rt I or < liri-tnub C o m m unit y Clubs and Church groups are utilizing to the fullest the beautifully decorated Community Centers for Christmas parties and programs. The Centers have been 11 111 v 4 v. aiucaiiM' (1I1V1 "Christmasy". The Christmas Tree and other attractive and colorful arrangements provide an appropriate background for the activities.
