Dandy" would never be the
theme song of the new General
Superintendent of the
Sunday School Department.
Until his assignment to
Mountain Home AFB in the
"deep North," 1st Lt. Jack C.
Spillers never ventured above
the Mason-Dixon Line. Despite
his "rebel" background,
Lt. Spillers is a very welcome
addition to our Protestant
Parish and to the Staff of our
Sunday School. Lt. Spillers
with his wife Jean, who
teaches in the Primary Department
of the Sunday
School, and two lovely daugh
lurs, v^aroi, age o, and Jan,
age 4. live at 135 Mountain
Village.
Born in Greenville, South
Carolina, the son of the Reverend
J. W. Spillers. a Baptist
minister. Jack early set his
sights on flying. After completing
High School he matriculated
at Clemson A & M
where in January of 1954 he
was given his B. S. Degree in
Engineering. During his Senior
year at Clemson. Jack met
and married Jean Wilson
from neighboring Laurens,
South Carolina.
Along with his diploma

given his commission in the
Air Force and left with his
wife for primary pilot training
at Graham Air Base,
Florida. Next stop for the
Spillers f a m i 1 y was Big
Spring AFB, Texas, where
Jack completed his pilot
training. Three and a half
years were spent at Craig
AFB. Alabama, where Jack
was an instructor in T-33's.
Re-assigned to SAC, Jack
came to Mountain Home in
June of this year via McConnel
AFB, Kansas.
Jack's hobbies are varied

life. He is looking forward to
the coming hunting season
with high hopes of bringing
back his limit with the Army
rifle that he has reconditioned
into a sporting rifle.

Scouts Take Part
In Jamboree
Forty Clinton-Lydia Boy
Scouts participated in the
Laurens District Fall Camporee
in upper Laurens
County near Gray Court on
November l.'L 14 and 15th.
The theme of the Camporee
was "Patrol Camping", consisting
of ten competitive
camping events. All activities
and judging was based on the
Patrol Method.
The purpose for all scouts
to share and learn scouting

acquainted with fellow scouts
while having loads of fun was
fully realized according to
the Scoutmasters and Boys.
