Bruce Wayne Shelnut celebrated his 6th birthday on October 9 and was honored with a birthday dinner at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Annie Lawson, with many relatives there to enjoy the occasion. Phyllis Shealy celebrated her 9th birthdav on October 29. Linda Sue Satterfield celebrated her 11th birthday on October 18. Garel Satterfield celebrated his 12th wedding anniversary on Uctober 17. WEAVING NO. 3 3rd Shift By Fronie Franklin Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blackwell are very pleased over their new daughter which was born October 11. They will call her Tami Yvonne. Mrs. Fronie Franklin and Carol and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cook. Joyce and Carmie of Newberry and Mr. and Mrs. Olin Thompson. Butch and Ann of Clinton visited the mountains in North Carolina. Carol Franklin will celebrate her 14th birthday November 13. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Franklin. Mr. John Atkinson is a patient at Hays Hospital with injuries he received in an accident near Charleston. S. C. Shirley Vanderford celebrated her birthday October >? 4^ VS. Douglas Overtstreet. son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Overstreet, had a birthday October 25. Doyle Campbell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Campbell, celebrated his birthday October 10. SPINNING 2nd Shift By Lena Revis Hi Everyone: We have a lot of sickness in our community this month but hope everyone will be feeling bettei next time. We, the employees of Lvdia, wish to take this opportunity to say Thank You for the Turkey Supper provided by the company. We appreciate the recognition and efforts put forth to encourage better relationships between the personnel and help. Mrs. Jessie Mills visited her sister, Mrs. Connie Balling, who is very sick at Converse. We are glad to have Edna Laney back after being out sick several weeks. Believe it or not but Ruby Hughes has gone back to work. We welcome to the 2nd Shift Spinning one of our former employees. Mrs. Gladys Teague. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Howell upon the arrival of a son, Ricky Wendell. October 10. Friends of Mrs. Jessie Mae Owens will be glad to know that she is at home after having an operation at Blalock Clinic. Hope she will continue to get along fine. We are proud to have Mrs. Mae Nelson back with us after being in the hospital several days. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Davis were recently called to Union. S. C., because of the sudden illness of Mr. Davis' mother. I understand that she is not improving much. We are very sorry to hear that Harold Pearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Pearson, is not doing any too well after having his leg injured in a car wreck several months ago. We wish for him a speedy recovery. Mr. Rov Owens is at home after being very sick at Hays Hospital. I understand that he is entering the Veterans Hospital in Columbia soon. Mr. Ray Cannadv and Miss Doris Brown were united in marriage October 2. Doris is the daughter of Mrs. Lola Brown. Mrs. Daisy Hall of Stanley. N. C., visited her sister. Mrs. Arzetter Handback, recently. Mrs. Lizzie Davis was a recent visitor of her two sisters. Mrs. Lerov Cannon and Mrs. Charles Patham. in Greenville. Mrs. Frank Birchmore had a wonderful time while visiting a week in Miami. Fla. Mrs. Jimmy South and children are spending a week with her mother. Mrs. Julie Conner, of Whitmire. Wayne Quinton. of the Air T? T-* n ? mice case, savannah. Ua.. was a recent visitor of his wife and baby. Sorry Mrs. Ruby Dunaway is in the hospital. Hurrv up and qet better and back to work. Mr. and Mrs. Enie Lamb visited their son. Moorehead, Missionary to Japan, (now on furlough) will be the speaker. Rev. Lawrence Childs, Jr., of Sanford. N. C , will be the song leader. Hurrah for Paul Patterson! He wants us to know that he is not as dumb as he looks (just kidding, Paul) because he caught a 8 lb, 10 oz. bass and has been smiling ever since. Friends of Pvt. Tracy L. Quinton, stationed at Fort Jackson, will be glad to know that he is at home on 12 days leave. After that he will be stationed at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knighton of Enoree were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Littlefield. Also visiting the Littlefields were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lewis of Laurens, Mr. J. B. Birthday Parties On September 30 little Letha Johnson was honored with a party by her aunt, Miss Flo Emery, and some more friends at the community house. She was 3 years old. Letha received many beautiful gifts. Miss Glenda Waldrop was honored with a party at her grandparents' home, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Davis. She was 9 years old.
