Highlights of Safety Meeting ii ?. tr iiuuiagemeni Mas adopted a different approach to safetv. we have talked to .'14 employees in our daily safetv meetings. Some of the outstanding suggestions and facts we would like to pass to you which were brought out in these meetings were as follows: Dewey Lawrence, w a r p hand, suggested if every employee knew his or her job 1 and the safety rules pertain- < ing to them, he thinks that would solve 50 per cent of the saieiv prooicms. Arthur Davis, loom fixer, talked on unsafe conditions and what to look for when making regular monthly safety inspections. i Sudie Putnam, battery filler, talked on the importance of reporting minor injuries im nediately to your supervisor. WEAVING NO. 1 2nd Shift By Lucy Robinson Wc are now having our safety meetings once a week. We have a different speaker aach time. It was in charge of Mrs. Inez Turner this week and she made a nice talk tellng us of the things which we should do and should not do to make our department a setter place to work. Our supervisor, Mr. Alexander, is always safety minded and we all want to cooperate with aim. Mr. Hobert Phillips and son, Billv Ray, and Mr. Burton Phillips and Marsha Ann Turner spent the weekend ivith Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Bradford at Bee Log, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Croy and family visited in Greenville Sunday. A surprise birthday dinner was given at the home of Beatrice Hawks on Sunday for aer mother, Mrs. Susie Hawks, who was 74 years old October 2. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren visiting her were Mrs. J. W. Ledford, Mrs. Barbara Hopper and Rodger and Debby Hopper of Chester. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Fortner, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Massev and Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Still and Miss Emily Fortner of Greenwood. Earl Turner had a birthday October 13. You would think I don't have much to do since Tony is away at school. Mrs. Edna Terrv spent the weekend with her mother in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oxner of Aiken, S. C.. are the proud parents of a baby girl born September 27. She has been given the name. Tammie Charlene. The proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Oxner. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Barker visited their daughter over the weekend, who is a patient at the Watt Hospital in Durham, N. C. Mrs. Corene Hanks. Mrs. Beulah Saville and Theresa Rawton of Anderson visited Ina Bell Hooper recently. We have all been taking part in our department concerning safety. Our supervisor. Mr. Bently, has explained to each of us how much Safety means to each of us and to the company we work for. There has been several talks made on Safety bv Mrs. Janet Cauble, Mr. Charles Slack. Mr. Nathan Cannon and Mrs. Opal McAlister. We hope there will be no accidents so let's all be careful. I do hope everyone will give to our chest drive this year as before only the ones that have had and do have these dreadful diseases knowhow much w-e need your help. (I know because I have been one). Mrs. Betty Creswell and Mrs. Leila Black visited in Greenville several weeks ago. Alda Mae Johnson of Woodruff visited Mr. Harold Fowler Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Chess King celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary on ??? Mr. and Mrs. Ulvss Gilliam celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on October 2. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Wilsor celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary October 7. Mrs. C. E. Leopard and Mrs. George Thompson anc children attended the all night singing in Spartanburg October 10.
