At State Safety Conference Lydia To Receive Safety Award Mr. Claude Gilstrap, Lvdia Assistant Superintendent, will receive a certificate on behalf of the management and all employees at the 23rd Annual State - Wide Safety Conference to be held in Columbia on November 4 and 5. Lydia had a 0.00 accident frequency rate for the 9 months contest beginning October 1. 1958 and ending June 30. 1959. Mr. Gilstrap will receive the certificate at the awards luncheon to be held in the Ball Room of the Wade Hampton Hotel at noon on November 5th. Mr. J. B. OCTOBER. 1959 ANQUETS HELD 121 Employees Receive Awards One hundred and twentyone employees received con tinuous service awards at a banquet held in their honor on Thursday evening, October 1, in the Thornwell Dining Hall. Following a bountiful Thanksgiving style dinner the gathering was entertained by "The Clinton - Lydia Mills Mixed Chorus", under the direction of Mrs. Eva Land. Next, President Vance, assisted by the respective departmental overseers and Superintendents, presented the service pins. Vice President J. B. Templeton served as Toastmaster for the occasion. In a printed word of welcome to the honored guests, Mr. Vance said: "It i c a rron nine nlo!iciiro and privilege for my family and me to meet with you tonight. We extend greetings and a hearty welcome to each of you, our long-service employees. and your invited guests.
