SEPTEMBER, 1959 WEAVING NO. 1 1st Shift By Sudie Putnam Mr. and Mrs. William Statnik, of Norwalk, Conn., were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Satterfield and Pam, and Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Suttles visited friends and relatives in Forest Citv, N. C., recentlv. Mr. and Mrs. J. R.' Cole were visitors in Anderson the past weekend. Clinton Gambrell attended the race at the Darlington International Raceway at Darlington Labor Day. Clinton said it sure was hot there. He was blistered. Sgt. and Mrs. Willie Quinton and sons were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Powers. Mrs. Sadie Quinton returned home (to Columbus, Ga.) with them for a short visit. WEAVING NO. 1 Znd Shift By Lucy Robinson Ernest Vaughn is visiting Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Vaughn in I la. Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Croy visited in Greenville Sunday. Mr. a n d Mrs. Pressley Johnson, of Marion, N. C., visited the Horsey Turners and other relatives recently. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wat kins are moving into their home on Elizabeth Street. Mrs. Leon Hedgepath was honored with a surprise stork shower. She received numerous gifts from her friends and relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ballew and children and Gerry Wilson spent the weekend at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gardner. Rusty and Lynn spent the Labor Day weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shelton. We will miss Bobby Thomas. He is in the Army for six months. Hope vou like it. Bobby. Welcome to our new hour hand. William Gregory. He is taking Bobby Thomas' job. Mrs. Blanche Nelson is seriously ill in the Spartanburg General Hospital. She is Mrs. Dorothv Law son's sister. Hope she will be well soon. Mrs. Lillie Motes has been sick. She has been in the hospital but is home now. Hope she will also be well real soon. We miss her in weaving -1. Dixie Ann Simmons celebrated her 5th birthday September 9th and her aunt. Doug Nelson, in Greenville recently. Billv Lawson had his tonsils taken out at Hays Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Campbell and sisters and brothers of Mrs. Campbell had a picnic dinner at Lake Greenwood recently. We wish him a speedy recovery. Tony Hooper has started to Clemson College and Roger Dunawav has taken his job as blow-off hand. We welcome Thomas Womble to Weaving -2. He is replacing Tommy Lanford. who is a senior in high school. Debbie Fowler had a birthday August 30th. She was four years old. We welcome C. E. Leopard to Weaving -2. who filled in for Colev. He did a swell job. WEAVING NO. 2 3rd Shift By Evelyn Thompson Mrs. Joe Spillers is recovering at her home on Gordon Street after a recent operation at Blalock Clinic. Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Meadows celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary Sept. 7. Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Meadows announce the marriage of their daughter, Sandra, to Mr. Sam Penland August 29. Thev are making their home in Laurons Mrs. Faye Attawav has returncd to her home on Florence Street after a recent illness at Greenwood Hospital. Faye and Freddie wish to thank all their friends for the cards and flowers she received. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brock spent the day with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Buck Wilson, last Sunday. Miss Lee McCall was honored with a birthdav party at the community building August 21. It was her 13th birthday. we hope that's not un lucky Lee. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hevward McOll. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Childress celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary August 27th. We hope they have many more. William Gregory celebrated a birthday September 24th. nc cuan i say now old. WEAVING NO. 3 & 4 1st Shift By Sam Owens Mr. and Mrs. Alfred McNinch were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Code Evans, of Piedmont, recently. Also Mrs. McNinch and her mother. Mrs. Emma Mayfield. visited Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gardner in Greenville. Mrs. McNinch. better known as Chris, said that the trip to Greenville was rough for she had to change a flat. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Arnold and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kinard visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Griffin in Florence recently. Mildred said that they just had to see their new nephew. Jimmy Kinard spent a week in Hemingway with Mr. and Mrs. James Arnold. Rev. Ralph B. Hughes, from Daytona Beach. Fla., was a visitor of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hughes recently. Mr. Hughes' father. Mr. A. H. Hughes, is visiting the Herbert Hughes for a while. L. E. Woods, son of Mrs. Ora Williams, visited her and Mr. J. D. Williams recently. Robert Woods and family also visited Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Williams. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Dps sie Wilkes visited Chimney Rock recently. Cecil Wooten spent a week at BraswelFs Beach at Lake Greenwood. He said they made a wonderful turtle stew. Jimmy Barker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Barker, has joined the Air Force and is stationed at San Antonio. Texas. John T. Fowler, father of J. W. Fowler, is spending a week with the Fowlers. I didn't have a chance to tell the people about Heyward Tumblin breaking his leg playing baseball on the last day of the season. This is tough luck but he also got a run of good luck as his wife presented him with a baby girl sometime late in August. Melvin Huey and son. Charles, attended the Darlington 500 Labor Day races. Mrs. Dora Leopard is improving at her home after a brief illness. Mr. Ebb Lever, who was hospitalized, is now at home and improving steadily. Mr. and Mrs. James Harris observed their wedding anniversary August 16. Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson observed their wedding anniversarv August 16. Mr.' and Mrs. J. D. Williams observed their first anniversary September 13. Mr. Colev Blease, father of Mrs. Evelvn Simmons, had a birthday September 22. Those also having birth 3 Jane Holland Donnan is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Donnan. Clinton Mills. He recently spent a leave with his parents after an eight months cruise in the South Pacific. He is presently serving aboard the Bon Homme Richard. < Tony Kooper, son of Mrs. Ina Bell Hooper, Clinton Mills, entered Clemson Coilege September 10. Tony is a "1959" graduate of Clinton High School. He was employed at Clinton Mills during the summer.
