1. .Keep matches out of the reach of
young children. Teach children the
dangers of playing with fire.
2. Do not throw away cigars, cigarettes,
and matches without first
making sure they are extinguished
3. Do not allow accumulations of combustible
waste materials in or near
the house.
4. Keep chimneys and stovepipes clean,
and all joints and connections tight.
5. Do not use gasoline, naptha, or benzine
for cleaning. Use some of the
safer solutions now obtainable, and
use these, in any considerable quantity,
only out of doors and during
the day.
6. Never leave lighted heating or cooking
appliances unattended, particularly

7. Newspapers, paper boxes, packing
cases filled with excelsior, wrapping
paper, discarded raes. etc.. are
sometimes placed in closets with the
intention to remove them later, but
with little regard for the fire hazard
involved. As time pasres they
are frequently not removed, and the
condition becomes more dangerous
as members of the household deposit
additional items in the closets.
All such articles, because of the fire
hazard, should be removed and disposed

articles are disposed of by burning,
this should be done out of doors,
well away from buildings, fences,
and combustible materials.
