All of us at Clinton-Lydia Cotton Mills have been blessed one way or another from a maieriausuc sianapoint and we should share this blessing with those less fortunate than we. Many of us think that we are also in need, but immediately our thinking changes when we are reminded of someone's statement. "I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes until I saw a little child who had no feet." Of course, we all have shoes and we all have feet, but this statement on ablcs us to more fully realize how very fortunate we are. FILM TO BE SHOWN A twelve minute color film entitled "This Is Your Town" will be shown to all employees. This film shows the services the eleven organizations which y o u r contributions 1 support perform daily in our communities. (Incidentally, contributions to the United Charity Drive may be deducted from your income tax returns.) MONTHLY DEDUCTIONS CAN BE MADE Nov. 1. 1958 to Nov. 1. 1959 Employees may make a cash donation to the United Charity Chest, or they may have m o n t h 1 y deductions made from their pay checks. The idea of monthly deductions has a two fold purpose. First by spreading the contributions out over a twelve months period it doesn't work a hardship on an\ one to give. Secondly, it places all of us in position to give nn re than we have in the past. Clin S EMPLOYEES OF CLINTON-1 PLANS PROGRES Chest X - ray / m mm mm mm i ri^fc i The State Board of Health Mobile X-ray unit will visit in our communities on the following schedule: Lydia Mills Community Place: Lydia Mills Store Date: Wednesday, Oct. 15th Time: 12:00 -3:00 PM 4:00 -6:00 PM Clinton Mills Community Place: Clinton Mills Community House Date: Thursday, Oct. 16th Time: 12:00-3:00 PM 4:00-6:00 PM Chest X-rays for all adult members of the county is the goal of the S. C. Department of Health. A program of "Complete Community Coverage" is now underway on a state wide basis. This is an excellent opportunity for all Clinton and Lydia adults to take advantage of a very worthwhile health service. We owe it to ourselves, our families and our neighbors . .. to have a chest X-ray. Following are answers to the most commonly asked questions concerning chest X-rays: What is the Chest X-ray Survey? It's an all-out local war on tuberculosis and other chest ailments. Through the Survey every white person. 20 vears ton Emergency Fund. Campfire. Blue Birds and Horizon Ciiils at Clinton-Lvdia Mills and Emergency Relief. A small amount also goes to Administrative expenses of the Greater Community Chest of which the Clinton-Lvdia United Charities is a part. The Emergency Fund is an important reason why no further solicitations have been necessary to the mills. Quite a number of families in both villages have been helped through this fund when emergencies befell them. Remember the dates for the Red Feather Drive?October 2-Oetober 31. Help your mill to be 100 per cent. Share a few of your dollars to help lift some family or child when they need it most. You don't have to undress. It doesn't cost you anything. It doesn't hurt. Why Have a Survey? The S. C. Health Department wants to find all unknown cases of TB. as well as other chest conditions, among people in the above age brackets. Bv X-raying your chest they can do it. You don't need an appointment and you don't have to undress. The Pickell & Pickell surveying team is presently working in the Clinton village. Following the establishment of property boundary lines they will make a plat which will show each lot to be offered for sale. In most cases the houses to be sold will be first offered to the employee renting the house at the time of sale. In event the occupant does not wish to buy, the house will then be offered to some other employee of the Company who has not had an opportunity to buy a house. Some Homes To Be Relocated Clinton Residents in the area bounded on the north by Jefferson Street, on the east by Sloan Street, on the south by Washington Street and on the west by Bell Street whose homes are scheduled to be moved have been notified. They have been advised of the proposed future locations. In most everv - ? J case the proposed sites are more desirable home sites than those immediately surrounding the mill buildings. The house moving program is now underway. Every effort is being made to relocate these houses as quickly and as conveniently as possible.
