John Chancy of Lanford Station visited the Putnams recently. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Turner visited Mrs. Turner's brother, James Griffith, who was a patient in the General Hospital in Greenville. We're glad to have Dewey Lawrence back with us again although we were sorry to lose Haskell Williamson to Number 2 Weaving. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Putnam and Wallace spent a Saturday in Edgefield with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith. Another headline for the month ? Nellie Price celebrated a birthday May 10. Here's wishing you a happy birthday and hope you will have many more. Carson from James Island visited the Fred Sheltons recently. Mrs. Lily Mae Motes said she doesn't live in the country anymore. She has moved to the edge of the city limits on Elizabeth Street. Stanley and Mike Lawson. sons of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lawson. have had chicken pox. Glad they are well now. Clarence and George Motes have been out with flu. Check has been a patient at Hays hospital. Hope she is better. Mrs. Lois Bovette's daughter. Mrs. Ralph Roberts, is a patient at Self Memorial Hospital in G reenwood. Hope you are lots better by now. Marie. Our deepest sympathy to the families of Mrs. Minnie McCall and Mrs. J. F. Starnes. Mrs. McCall died March 5th in Greenville. S. C.. and Mr. Starnes died March 18th in Columbia Hospital. Miss Joanne Leach celebrated her 19th birthday Mav 7. Mrs. Willie Stroud celebrated her birthday May 19th. Mr. Paul Bowling was 53 years old April 30. Mike Lawson will be six years old June 5. Old enough to go to school, Mike. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shelton announce the marriage of their daughter, Rita, to Vernon Tucker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Tucker. Sunday. Raymond McCoy, when asked for news, said he couldn't brag about his last fishing trip, so he wasn't even going to tell when he went. Better luck next time, Raymond. Jack Alexander was called to Washington recently, due to the serious illness of his father. But Jack is back at work, and said his father was much improved. We're glad and hope he'll be well soon. Mrs. Jean Hedden of Columbia spent a weekend recently with her sister and brother-in-law. Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Slaughter. Rev. and Mrs. J. L. Slaughter and son spent a weekend in La Grange, Ga.. as guests of Rev. Slaughter's parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Slaughter. Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Campbell and children of Atlanta spent a recent weekend with both their parents and other relatives. Mrs. Campbell and children remained for the week due to the illness of her grandfather. "Dad" Arnold. Hope "Dad" will soon be as spry as ever. Ftl. and Mrs. Charles Oxner of Aiken were rerent of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Oxner and Mr. and Mrs. Merchant of Joanna. On our first Saturday off. quite a number of our folks shopped in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Thornton Meadors. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fowler, your reporter (Grace). Eunice Braswell and Inabell Hooper were all in Greenville, (but the three groups never saw each other.) Some of us found what we were looking for though. You know the "You Auto Buy Now" campaign is on. Well any day now I'm looking to get a letter saying "You Auto Pay Now" for things you bought a long time ago. Danny Ray and Betty Am Berry are the lovely grandchil dren of Mr. and Mrs Dewe^ Lawrence. Clinton Mills. R Joe Davenport said he and L. W. Butler spent the weekend of our first Saturday off at Pine Bluff Hotel on Cane Creek (Lake Greenwood) and enjoyed a big fish fry of the fish they caught. Furman Adams left May 8th to join the Air Force. He will go to San Antonio, Texas. Good luck to you, Furman. and let us know how you like your new job. Loyal Kuykendall of Greensboro. N. C., visited his mother, Mrs. Alice Kuykendall, for a couple of weeks while convalescing from an operation. uur deepest sympathy to Mrs. Alice Kuykendall in the death of her sister, Mrs. Mamie Johnson, of Taylors, who was buried April 29. Cecil Wooten and Earl Braswell spent the weekend of our first Saturday off at Earl's cabin on Lake Greenwood. Grace and Eunice joined them on Sunday. Missouri Wilkie nursed a blistered face and arms for three or four days following a fishing trip May 3. A. G. Galloway is progressing nicely following a heart attack in April. Hope you'll soon be able to return to work. A. G. Mrs. Sam Owens celebrated a birthday May 24. Freddie Att awav had a birthday May 11, and his wife, Fay, a birthday May 24. Mrs. Estelle Roland is back at work after being ill for several days. We want to welcome Inabell Hooper back to the first shift, even if she is working in ~3. Also Sam Lawson, Warp Hand, who comes from the third shift. Aline Lanford says she has a birthday June 10, but she refused to say how many she's had before now. Calvin Lee re-enlisted in the Air Force recently. He is stationed in Alaska. Mrs. Lee will join him there soon. We would like to welcome Lawrence Kuykendall from the 1st shift to the 3rd shift. Mary, Patsy, Tommy and Tonita Miles. Miss Louise Sanders and Mrs. Patricia Toplack spent the day with Jerry Sanders in Columbia. S. C. They all enjoyed a picnic at Blythewood. S. C.
