FEBRUARY. 1958 Wi WEAVING NO. 1 1st Shift By Sudie Putnam Olc man winter really slipped up on everyone with the snow. Even the weatherman, for he predicted rain. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal visited relatives in Salem. S. C., recently. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Terry and children visited relatives in Spartanburg recently. Nellie Price. Melda Lowery and Sudie Putnam were shop, pers in Greenville several weeks ago. Arthur Davis has been a paueni ai nays Hospital. Hope he will be back at work soon. We were glad to have Mary Terry back after an absence of several days last week. The Mayor has been on the sick list. He is feeling better now. J. C. Page and Curlv Hicks really enjoyed riding home in the snow Wednesday. They both live in Woodruff. J. C. says that's the advantage of living away from your work. Curly accused J. C. of passing a couple of guys fixing a flat tire all because he was in a hurry to get home so he could help his daughter make a snow man. We have come to the conclusion J. C. was more : a i A i -i A rtuxiiHO man uie uaugnier. Everyone must have been excited over the snow. Neufter Creswell even worked on the 3rd shift so he could go rabbit hunting in the snow. He savs although it was rabbit hunting they killed a variety: rabbits, birds, squirrels and 'possums. He leaves the top to his work bench open most of the time now. He says anyone wanting to see the picture of a Grand babv to take a look. The little Tvke is cute. Always smiling. Neuffer savs he gets that after ole Grandpa. Ha! WEAVING NO. 1 3rd Shift By Sara Shelton Hunting season is over, so you fishermen better get your fishing gear oiled and cleaned. Those bass, bream, catfish and crappies are just waiting to be caught. Happy birthday to Charles and Joe Calvert whose birthdays were January 22 and February 4. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Calvert. Sheriff said Charles was a freshman at Academy Street School. Gholdie Simmons celebrated his birthdav December 27. Fred Shelton observed his birthday February 12. Jr. Lambert, our hour hand, has bought a car?a 1948 Pontiac. He said girls are the only ones that can ride in it. Four of Mrs. Neola McCall's sisters and one of her brothers visited her Sunday. They were Mrs. Lewis Land ford and children. Mrs. Mildred Edwards and children. Mrs. Ralph Thomas and son. Mrs. Cleo Batson and son. and Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Galloway and children. J. F. Starnes. father of Mrs. Lily Mae Motes is critically ill in the Columbia hospital. Mrs. Minnie McCall, mother-in-law of Mrs. Neola McCall is seriously ill in the Greenville General Hospital. Mis. Fred Wyatt spent the weekend with her sister. Mrs. Lois Bovette recently. Mrs. Clarence Motes. Mrs. A. D. Belt and Wendell Starnes visited J. F. Starnes ui Columbia Hospital Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Leach announce the engagement of their daughter. Joanna, to Earl Motes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Motes. The wedding will take place some time this spring. That's all for now. See you next month. THE CLOTHMAKER WEAVING NO. 2 1st Shift By Mildred Kinard and Grace Wooten Hi Folks: How did you like the snow? The only fault I had with it, there just wasn't enough of it and it didn't linger long enough. We had a few hunters in here that were disappointed too. Mrs. Mice Kuykendall is still thrihed over her big surprise birthday dinner January 12. One of her sons, Clarence, came over and got her. as if to carry her to his home for dinner and then brought her back home to a house full of her children and grandchildren. with a bountiful dinner on the table. Another surprise came the following day when she went to work. Ethel Lever brought her a big birthday cake to the mill which she cut and divided with fellow workers. This reporter (Grace) was out sick at the time, but she didn't forget me. She sent me some of the cake and it was really delicious. Ethel can bake me a cake any time she likes. Sidney Riser and daughter of Anderson spent a weekend recently with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Riser. Airman Malcolm Fowler of Bedford. Mass., and Sgt. Larrv Fowlei of Hamilton Air Base. California, spent a 15 day leave in January with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fowler. Malcolm arrived first and was here when Larry called from Shaw Field for them to meet him. Bet Malcolm won't go anywhere without his leave papers again, for they almost didn't let him return from Shaw Field with Larry, thought he was A. W. O. L. because he didn't have his leave papers with him. Mrs. Missouri Wilkie. Mrs. Fay Medlin, and Mrs. Mae Holliday attended an all day singing at the Armory in Easley Sunday. January 26. The singing was staged for the March of Dimes. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Suttles and family of Marion spent a recent weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Suttles. Mrs. James Slaughter and son accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Beauford Hadden on a trip to Ml Little Judy Bryant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Bryant, celebrated a birthday January 28. Mrs. Bryant is employed at Clinton Mills. Tampa, Fla., recently. We wish to express our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Frank Jacks and her family on the loss of her mother, Mrs. Melinda Bolt Brownlee January 8. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Galloway announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Martha Galloway, on January 26 to John Franklin, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Franklin, of the Milam Road Community. Mr. Galloway, father of the bride accompanied them to Charleston on Saturday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly. The wedding was a big surprise to all of us. but we send our warmest wishes to Martha and John for a long happy life together. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Turner were called to Greenville recently on account of the serious illness of Mrs. Turner's brother. Henry Griffith, who is a patient at the General Hospital. At last report, he was some better, and we hope he continues to improve. Sorrv to report that Mrs. Henrietta Dover is out due to illness. Uur sincere wishes for an early recovery. Mr. and Mrs. David Pulley and daughters of Laurens visited in Greenwood recently and also were the supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Gilliland in Clinton on a Sunday. Little Steve Harris of Charleston spent a week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. McCullough recently. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harris visited Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Joey Avery has been sick, but is much better. Mrs. Roy Cannon and Mr. and Mrs. Bardy Cannon and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Lee of Myrtle Beach, S. C., recently. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith in Greenville, S. C., last weekend. Geanne Tucker has been in the hospital but she is home now. Hope she is going to be O. K. soon. Mrs. Carl Campbell, Mrs. Elsie Wvatt and Franklin Wyatt spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Raul I ramnicll. Vivian Kuykendall's little boy is sick. Hope he's going to be well soon. Mr. and Mrs. J.
