Mrs. Willie Dean visited her sister, Eline Geiger, in Newberry. Mr. and Mrs. Jennings Cook and son, Robert, visited in Canton. N. C., recently. A 2C and Mrs. James O'Shields of Blythville, Arkansas, have returned back to hasp affpr v:r?or\rlir?rr ixtm -I? weeks with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. O'Shields. They also brought their son, Mike, whom the O'Shields had never seen. Mr. and Mrs. Coy O'Shields are proud to announce the arrival of a new son on November 3. His name is Robert Mitchel. They also have another son. Mrs. O'Shields is the former Barbara McLendon of Lydia. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Satterfield and Melda spent a weekend in Florence recently. Mrs. Shelby Alexander Sat terfield has fjonc to California to join her husband. Gerald, for a few months. Birthdays Clifton Tumlin, grandson of Mrs. Willie Dean, will be three years old November 23. Mr. and Mrs. Dunaway are employed at Lydia Mills. Sgt. Paul Romaine, brother of Audrey Estes, of Camp Lejune, N. C., is spending a 30 day leave at home. Mr. and Mrs. Sandford Wilson wishes to thank everyone for the many kindnesses and gifts given them recently when they lost their home and belongings in a fire. Mrs. Dewey Darby and children. Laura and Anna, have returned to their home in Charleston after spending two weeks with Mrs. Laura Darby. Mrs. Nora Kirbv has returned to work after being out on leave. Welcome back. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Mac Harris will be interested to know they have moved on the mill village on Poplar Street. Mrs. Harris wishes to thank all their friends for the many kindnesses bestowed on them while Mr. Harris is ill. SPINNING 2nd Shift By W. N. Nabors We are very sorry to report so much sickness this month, but as you know there is so much Asiatic Flu going around. Jimmie Richey is in Hays Hospital with the flu. Pat Nelson is in Laurens Hospital with Yellow Jaundice. We are very sorry* to lose one of our warp spinners to Clinton Mills. Essie Reynolds got her transfer and we shall miss her. Your reporter enjoyed a birthday dinner in Laurens recently. Mv father celebrated his seventy-seventh birthday then. Lola Brown has been out several days due to illness in her family. Edith Gambrell has been off several days because of illness in her family. Eula Quinton has been out several days because of personal illness. Ruby Dunaway has had sickness in her family and lost several days. Emmie P. Thomas has lost several days because of sickness. We hope that all the ones that are sick will be back at Little Miss Debbie Hughes will celebrate her fourth birthday November 18. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hughes. The madam has gone over to her brother's home in Greenville County and boy, I hate to wash dishes. CARD ROOM 1st Shift By Martha Wyatt Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Johnson and son were the dinner guests of his sister, Mrs. An nie tsell Johnson, of Laurens. Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Blackwell visited their daughter, Mrs. S. T. Moore, of Greenwood, recently. Mr. O'Neal Martin and family had a very enjoyable time at the Laurens County Fair. We would like to welcome the Rev. Milford Sanders as the new pastor of the Lvdia Baptist Church. Little Donald Snider celebrated his 13t'n birthday on November 14. Sgt. W. D. Wvatt of Lake Charles A. F. B., visited his wife. Mrs. Peggy Motte Wvatt. and children on October 1st. We wish to welcome Mr. and Mrs. William Snow to our community. They are now making their home on 192 Cypress Street. We are very glad to have Mr. Bill King back on the job again. Bill recentlv spent several days at the National Safetv Convention in Chicago. 111., and is understood to have had a very interesting and informative trip. Everyone seems to be glad that the mills have gone back on a 6 day work schedule. Ole Santa Claus will probably be pretty glad. too. when the news reaches the North Pole. Lydia Mills. Durwood is in the first grade at Hampton Avenue School. 5 from the hospital. We are sorry to hear of the death of Mr. S. F. Blackwell's father-in-law of Greenwood, S. C. He was buried at 4 o'clock Tuesday at the Moral Garden in Greenwood. Joyce and Fred Johns of Newberry were weekend guests of her mother, Mrs. Annie Bell Johnson. Friends of Miss Katheline Dees will be glad to know she is now a R. N. at Hays Hospital. A son. Timothy Tobias, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Wyatt on September 4th at Hays Hospital. Mrs. Wyatt is the former Miss Ruby Campbell. CARD ROOM 2nd Shift By Myrtle Alewine Jim Gaines and Reba O'Shields were united in marriage October 5th. They spent their honeymoon at the beach. We are glad to have Floyd Emery back after being out cinlr en lr*y?rr L. E. Collins, father of Mrs. S. F. Blackwell. died Sunday at the home of his son, Clarence Collins, of Greenwood. He is survived by his wife, five sons and three daughters. We are glad to have Cecil Morgan back with us. We are glad to hear that Mr. C. E. Spradlev is coming back to work after a few days in Havs Hospital. Herman Phipps caught a bass Saturday that weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. Brenda Bolding had an appendix operation in Aug. at Hays Hospital. She is now in school and doing fine. Mvrtie Alewine and sons spent Sunday with her mother. Mrs. Pearl Wheeler, of Newberry, S. C. CARD ROOM 3rd Shift By W. L. Gambrell We extend our sympathy to Marshal Motes in the death of his father-in-law, Mr. Jim Wallenzine, of Kinards. David Miles, son of Rev. and Mrs. Alfred Miles, is doing fine following a recent operation. Mr. and Mrs. Thurmon Jones visited relatives in Norfolk. Va., last week. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Motes and son visited Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jolly of Dillard. Ga.. recently. We extend sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. James H. Price in the death of her aunt. Mrs. Retta Osley. of Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Price of Charleston enjoyed a visit with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. James H. Price, of Joanna, recently.
