Freeman Lanford recently. Mrs. Ora Wood. J. D. Williams. and Miss Le Ellen Williams enjoyed a barbecue supper in Greenville recently as guests of Miss William's fiance, Lloyd Slay. Mrs. Florence Moore of Augusta, Ga.. Mr. Lloyd Slay and children. Miss Le Ellen Williams. Mrs. Ora Wood, and Mr. J. I). Williams visited Mr. Williams' son. Jack, in Columbia. Mrs. Alice Kuvkendall, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kuvkendall visited Loyal Kuykendall in Greensboro. N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lanford and children. Mr. and Mrs. W. II. Dunaway visited Mr. and Mrs. Hen Willard in Sumter recently. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Galloway and Mrs. Carl Espieg visited Mrs. Charles Kelly in Charleston. Mrs. Kelly is recuperating at home after undergoing surgery at Roper Hospital. Susie and Patricia Kelly, who have spent the summer with their grandparents. returned to their home for the school season. Cheryl Wilson has returned home after snendim* I n the summer in West Hvattsville. Md., with her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Smith, who accompanied her homo for a visit with their daughter and son in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wilson. Rev. and Mrs. James Slaughter and children attended the Conference of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church in North Georgia. Mrs. Irene McCoy and her daughter, Mrs. Andy Pendleton of Atlanta. Ga., visited Mrs. Estelle Roland recently. Mr. and Mrs. Aron Arnold and daughter of Greenville spent a recent weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kinard. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cunningham have moved into their new home on Bailey Circle. We hope they are going to enjoy it as much as their neighbors on Gordon Street are going to miss them. Mrs. Melvin Huey, Mrs. Bill Tcrrv. Mrs. Missouri Wilkie, Mrs. Cecil Wooten, Mrs. J. W. Fowler, accompanied Timothy James celebrated his first birthday Sept. 16. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas James and the grandson of Mrs. Missouri Wilkie, Clinton Mills. by Mrs. Fowler's sister. Mrs. Kathleen Bush of Greenwood. visited the family of the late Mrs. F. A. Buchanan in Swannanoa. N. C., August 25. Our deepest sympathy goes out to them in their bereavement. Sam Owens was a very happy person after the ball game between Joanna and Newberry August 27. Our best wishes for an early recovery go to Herbert Hughes, who has spent some time in Hays Hospital for treatment, and to Mrs. Vivian Barker, .ho is recuperating at home, after surgery in Hays Hospital. Also to Mrs. L. I,. Lawson, mother of Mrs. L. i\. i^eopard. and to Joe Strickland, brother of Mrs. Ola Moadors, both of whom are patients in Greenville General Hospital, we send our sincere wishes that all will soon be well. THE CLOTHMAKER Mrs. Laura Griffin of Greenville, mother of Mrs. Grady Turner, was honored with a surprise birthday dinner at her home August 25. All her children and grandchildren were present to help celebrate her 69th birthday. We want to welcome C. E. Leonard, who comes tn us from the third shift. And we also want to say how glad we are to see Inabell able to be back at work, even though we lost her from the first shift to the third. It's wonderful to know that she has recovered so fullv from her illness. We still think of you. Inabell, as belonging to us. We're just loaning you to the third shift for a while. (We hope.) Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Campbell celebrated their wedding anniversary August 21. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Bagwell of Newberry and Mrs. Jimmy Armstrong and children of Miami, Fla., visited Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wooten. recently. Gary Cunningham, son of mc jacK uunningham s, started to school this year. Now we know vacation time is really over. All mothers with children in school have nine months to hear the kids shout where arc my shoes, my socks, my books, but without mothers and children what would we do? They're the most precious thing in life. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Baker and daughter, Donna, spent the weekend in Rock Hill with Mrs. Price Edwards and on Sunday attended the Baker reunion in Bethune. S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith and children of Hartsville spent Sunday with Mr. and M r<? Marpoll Roflrnv Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Barker and Mrs. J. F. Weir visited Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Bright in Startex recently. Mrs. Billy R. Heaton underwent surgery at Hays Hospital recently. Hope she will be home and well soon. Mrs. Ruth Lancaster is a very proud grandmother. Her daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann Davis, has a big girl, born August 23. named Brenda Gail. Misses Fannie and Hattie Garrett of Greer spent the weekend with their neice and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lawson. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Thornton and children visited James Thornton who is seriously ill in Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson and children from San Antonio. Texas, have been visiting the former's sister. Mrs. James McMillan. Mr. and Mrs. Marcell Barker and son visited Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Smith in Hartsville. Tommy, and Mrs. Blanche Creswell at tended a picnic at Greenwood State Park recently. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Mahaffev and daughter were making pictures at Lake Greenwood last Sunday. Hope they turn out good. 3 Mr. and Mrs. James Wells visited their aunt who is very ill in Athens, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Turner and familv attended a sur prise birthday dinner given Mrs. Turner's mother, Mrs. Laura Griffeth in Greenville, S. C., recently. Mary Miles' father, Mr. E. H. Hucks who has been visiting her, will return home Sunday. We are glad to have Mrs. Ina Bell Hooper back at work after a long illness. Mrs. Vivian Holcombe's little hnv hac Koon cinU V-\u + is better now. Larry W. Masters attended the Southeastern Shrine Convention two days in Atlanta, Ga. We hope he behaved himself. He says he did. We are glad to welcome Chestlev King to our department. Trudy Smith and son, sister of Chestlev King, will return home Sept. 1st from Fort Smith. Arkansas. We would like to welcome Jerry Huev and Rudolph Holden to our department also. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Meadows celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary Sept. 7th. Our best wishes to them. "Fick" said he hasn't been anywhere except fishing but didn't catch anything. Henry Fallow got a promotion from sweeper to weaver. "Get Production Henry". Harriet Black will be six years old September 24. Lula Black and Margaret Cannadv spent a day in Greenville shopping last week. Vickie Cannadv will be 3 vears old Seotember 26. Mrs. Annie Sloan is recovering after a recent stay at Hays Hospital. She is the mother of Lula Black. Louie Black was a visitor Jimmy is the handsome son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kinard. Clinton Mills.
