Our Children
And Baseball
Now that our baseball season
has drawn to a close and
school is about to start again,
we find our mind goes back
to sports ? summer sports
such as baseball?and when
we think along these lines
we see a boy playing his
heart out to make good on the
team. As we set in the stands
and watched these kids play,
especially in Little League, in
our excitement and desire to
win sometimes we forget that
they are small boys?all under
12 years of age?and not
grown men. It hurts them to
strike out and oftentimes
even sick to make errors.
Whether they belong to our
team or the opponents', we
should continue to encourage
them to display good sportsmanship
both on and off the
field.
We want to especially
thank everyone this year for
the way they have supported
our teams and the good
sportsmanship shown. Let's
keep it up because after all
these boys of today will be
our men of tomorrow. A
little forethought now might
mean a lot of difference in
that man of tomorrow.

THE
IDEAL
Almost every individual at
some time or other wants to 1
know what the ideal weight
for himself should be and
how to arrive at the exact
balance of the scale without
too much effort. Many have
spent vast sums of money,
exercLed, dieted and worried
themselves in almost a state
of hysterics to attain this. A
few have accomplished their
desires while many, many
others have only been frustrated
in their efforts.
The very first step one
should take is to go to their
personal physician and get a
complete physical examination
and find out the weight
desirable from the health
standpoint. Many people have
larne frames that necessitate
more weight than the smaller
frame build, therefore a
weight chart, although it
gives a working basis for a
normal body, is not always a
reliable guide.
Your doctor will know and
advise you if you need to
gain and what is more important
to eat or how much rest
and relaxation to get. He will
keep a record of your prog
ress and 11 you will work
with him much may be accomplished.
Many start with
high enthusiasm and gradually
lose interest, instead of
continuing until the desired
SCHOOL DAYS
n
Each year with the coming of
September our boys and girls respond
to the sound of pealing
schools bells calling them back
to resume their studies.
For the first graders the call
is not to resume studies but to
begin them. To put it in the
words of a first grader this is "A
Giant Step". Their minds are
filled with expectations of school
life that only a sir /ear old can
imagine. This day ranks second

WEIGHT
weight is reached. Those underweight
have a simpler
problem usually for they only
need more calorie intake and
rest with perhaps more fluid
intake. Those who are overweight
have a much harder
problem for most of them
have been eating too much
and too often with the result
of an enlarged stomach and
big appetite, thus the more
they eat the more they want
and the more weight they put
on. To combat this is a very
large order indeed, but it can
be done if enough will-power
is exerted and that brings up
motivation ... how much do
you want to reduce? Is your
weight affecting your health,
looks, social progress, work,
or mental atttiude? If you
can answer "Yes" to any of
these questions, it is time to
seriously consider how much
will-power you have about
your diet and energy supply.
Beware of "fad diets" and
reducing pills, unless prescribed
by your doctor for
they can be harmful and
often of little other value.
Doctors alone should prescribe
any medication.
A good eating habit is well
to have at all times?find out
the required calorie intake
for your particular needs and
stay within this limit for
your health and happiness.
