As of this writing we haven't had a lost time accident, so on your toes everybody and keep your fingers crossed. We really are having some beautiful "Indian Summer" weather now and lots of our "folks" took advantage of it by attending the Southern Textile Exposition in Greenville. Among them our three supervisors, Mr. Gallman, Mr. Bratcher and Mr. Charlie Gaffnev. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. John Gallman and little daughter, Teresa, recently visited at Chimney Rock. Susie Meeks, daughter of Frances Meeks, spent the past weekend in Joanna with her aunt, Mrs. Colie Oswalt. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dunaway attended the graduation exercises at Spartanburg General Hospital recently. Mrs. Dunaway's niece, Miss Helen Dickson, was one of the graduate nurses. Our deepest sympathy goes to Paul Kitchens due to the death of his mother, Mrs. Ida Mae Kitchens, on September 20th at Startex, S. C. The Ray Boozers visited Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Boozer near Newberry Sunday. Airman and Mrs. James Fuller and little daughter, Angela, of Sunnymeade, California, are spending a leave with Mrs. Fuller's parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Hamilton. Miss Barbara Jo Todd, who is in training at the Greenville General Hospital, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Todd. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Milam visited Mr. Lewis Bagwell, who is a patient at the Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, on Sunday. They also attended the football game in Chester hot ween C ti <> c .. ? High and Clinton High. The Joe Corlevs visited in Greenwood recently. Mr. J. E. Cokcr attended the Revival services at the Joanna Church of God recently. Oakleys. Arthur A. Haway celebrated his sixth birthday October 12. David Mann has a birthday Octboer 19. Mrs. Price and Ruth Wagen of Buffalo visited the Thomas Crisps recently. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Crowell visited Mr. and Mrs. Harley Culpepper recently. The T. M. Donalds spent the weekend at Kennesaw, Georgia, recently. Mr. G. G. Conwell spent a week with his daughter recently. Mr. George "Bubber" Lawson is ill at his home. Mrs. Christell Campbell is ill at her home. Mrs. Virginia Baker has leturned from sick leave. SP 3 John Myers, son of Mrs. Mozelle Fuller, was home on a 30 day furlough after reenlisting for three more years. Mrs. Mozelle Fuller has returned to work after being ill. Skinnie Gregory says he can hardly wait to see "Ole Red Foley" on Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Garel Satterfield celebrated their 9th Anniversary, October 9th. Danny Walker will be 5 years old the 23rd of October. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walker will celebrate their 6th Anniversary soon. Oh yes, Mrs. Christell Campbell was the lucky winner of a 20 dollar bill last weekend. Harry Franklin celebrated his 23rd birthday the 6th of October. Our deepest sympathy to the Elders family in the death of their son and brother, Samuel Elders. The vocation of every man and woman is to serve other people. A man's possessions in themselves are not a true measure of his worth. His service to his community and his fellowman must be added. Mr. and Mrs. William Snow were the weekend guests of his sister in Wadesboro, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dicker 5 son were the weekend guests of Mrs. W. C. Fen-ell of Gainesville, Ga. Mr. King's new 1957 station wagon is doing nicely since he has learned to drive it. I know everyone will be glad to know that we have an apple man at Lydia, Mr. Fred Dickerson. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wyatt were the dinner guests of Mrs. Paul Patterson in Laurens. CARD ROOM 2ND SHIFT By Myrtie Alewine Mr. Joe Nelson celebrated his birthday the 30th of Sept. Roger Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Nelson, is back in school after having broken his foot several weeks ago. We extend our sympathy to Mrs. S. F. Blackwell in the death of her grandfather, Mr. Luther Cassel, who was 80 years old. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Emery on the birth of a granddaughter Sunday, the 30th of Sept.
