After departing from
Clinton, "Pete" dominated the
conversation ? he certainly
does talk?for the next hundred
or so miles. The mountain
air had an anesthetized
effect on "Pete" so he entered
slumberland. "Pretty Boy"
was aroused later as they
stopped to re-fuel in Hendersonville,
as they paused for a
refresher Mrs. Holtzclaw decided
to open the cage door
and give "Pete" some food.

was no consoling of either.
Roy decided he would leave
"Pete's" cage at the service
station with hopes that "Pete"
would return to his home.
Mr. and Mrs. Holtzclaw
made the most of their vacation,
without "Pretty Boy,"
but had to return to Clinton
the following Sunday without
the complete family.
One of the old favorite
songs came to mind?"Where
Oh! Where Is "Pretty Boy
Pete"?Where Oh! Where Can
He Be."
Before returning home Roy
contacted the Hendersonville
Times and placed an ad?
Lost?"Pretty Boy Pete."
Vacation over, the Holtzclaws
returned to normal living,
minus "Pete."

original bird as possible, but

Monday and Tuesday passed
with no word from the ad.
Wednesday noon the telephone
rang, Roy answered
and it was long distance
from Hendersonville. Right!
It was a lady calling that she
believed she had "Prettv Boy
Pete." Mr. and Mrs. Holtzclaw
lost their taste for food,
there would be no rest until
they could go to Hendersonville
and get "Prettv Boy."
It had to be "Pete." The suspense
was too great, so they
decided to go that evening.
The address of the caller was
no trouble to find, it was a
store on the east side of town.
They were hesitant about entering
the store, afraid that
the bird would not be "Pete."
With courage restored they
entered the store, looked into
the cage and ! ! ! ! ! it was
"Pete." You have never
heard so much talking?Mr.
Holtzclaw, Mrs. Holtzclaw
and "Pete" all at one time.
After a fifteen minute reunion
they departed from
Hendersonville and returned
to Clinton.
Mr. Holtzclaw, Mrs. Holtzclaw
and "Pretty Boy Pete"
are at home at 502 Elizabeth
Street.
P. S.?"Pete" lost two
pounds, he only weighed one
and one-half pound at the beginning.
That's for the birds.

women had their blood typed
for emergencies. It is highly
unusual for a type to change;
however, there is a probability
of the factor (positive or
negative) changing.
If you do not know your

typed, and you would like to
have it typed or re-typed,
then please see your supervisor
