4 NEWS FRO NO. 1 WEAVING. FIRST By Lillian Pulman Mr. and Mrs. Luke Boyette went deep sea fishine off the coast of Charleston, S. C. Lois says never again will she go out in another boat. Nellie and George Price and bovs visited the Herman Veals in Maysville, Ga. Irene Eubanks spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. William Fowler. Mr. Cole and his family vacationed at Savannah Beach. Mrs. D. G. Jackson and Roy of Columbia spent several days recently with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Terry and family. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Terry and Mrs. Elmer Queen attended the funeral of Mrs. J. J. L. Smith in Salem Sunday. A. A. Donald Powers is spending a fourteen day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Powers after compieung a l'J weeks course at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, 111. He will report to Norman, Oklahoma, August 8th for further training. The Herbert Prices, the George Prices and sons visited the J. L. Messers in Del Rio, Tennessee, the grandparents of the Mr. Prices. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Farmer and sons of Ninety Six, S. C., the Rufus Ballards of Joanna, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Roy Greene of Laurens, S. C., visited the Putnams during vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Terry and familv visifpH in Pnlnm. bia and Spartanburg during vacation. We sure miss Kenneth Madden who enlisted in the Navy and is now taking his training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. The A. J. Harveys and daughters of Cleveland, Ohio, are spending a few days with their mother, Mrs. Ella Harvey, and sister, Mrs. George Price. We wish to express our deepest sympathy with Mrs. Robert Neal due to the death of her mother, Mrs. J. J. L. Smith of Salem, S. C. SECOND By Emily McNinch Miss Christine Gray visited in New York the week of the 4th. Mr. and Mrs. John A. McNinch and son and Mrs. Emma Mayfield vacationed in Florida the week of the 4th. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Smith and children visited Mrs. Lee Miller and family of Anderson. Vera Barnett vacationed at Myrtle Beach the week of the 4th. Mr. and Mrs. Elford Harrill spent a Sunday in Union recently. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Perry and son of Spartanburg spent several days with the Elford Harrills. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lawson announce the birth of a daughter July 2nd. Mrs. Lawson is the former Miss Eleanor Blackwell of Clinton. The baby was named Linda. Billy Maree was uncle twice during July. His brother and wife, Raymond Maree, a daughter. His sister, Mrs. Leola Wade, a daughter. Billy Maree had a birthday July 8th. Harold Madden has a birthday August 4th. We welcome Max Fortenbury to our department. We are sorry that Bill Campbell and Grace Burt are out sick. We hope they will be able to return to work soon. FIRST By Grace Woolen and Mildred Kinard Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Campbell and Mike, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Campbell visited Silver Springs and Davtona, Florida, during vacation. Ronnie Brookshire, Robbie Roberts, and Charles Huey spent several days at the Braswell Cabin on Lake Greenwood. From all reports mostly eating and sleeping were done and no fishing. Jimmy Kinard is spending 2 weeks with his uncle, Mr. James Arnold, in Hemingway. Sandra Leopard and Virl Barker spent a week at Camp Buckhorn with the Camp Fire and Blue Birds. Larry Joe Barker spent a recent week with Johnny Sanders in Spartanburg. Mrs. J. L. Arnold, Mrs. Raymond Campbell and IP On Saturday eve at 5 o'clock, June 30th, a birthday party was given Laura Anita Turner, celebrating her fifth birthday. Games were played afterwards. They all sang Happy Birthday and was served a plate with cookies, Anita is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey Turner, Clinton Plant, daughters of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Oscar Kinard and Jim my recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Griffin in Florence. Charles Huey and Tonny Hooper and several other friends spent a recent Sunday at Paris Mountain State Park. Jerry Wilkie spent a week at Camp Old Indian with the Scouts. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Riser attended the funeral of Mrs. J. J. L. Smith in Salem. The C. W. Wootens and Debbie and the Bill Crowells spent a weekend at folly Beach. Mrs. J. E. Braswell, Sr., was honored with a birthday party at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Bragg, in Joanna. All her children and grandchildren were present. Ice cream and cake was served on the lawn. Mrs. Braswell received many useful gifts. Paul Hardman has entered the Navy and is taking his "Boot Training" at the Great Lakes, Illinois, Training Center. Paul is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fern Hardman, Clinton Weaving. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pierce, a baby girl July 17. Little Terry Lee weighed 6 lbs. 8 ozs. Papa Pierce is mighty proud of the little girl. Mama is the former Miss Phvliss Davis, Clinton Mill. We are real glad to see Ralph Stewart back after an extended leave due to illness. Mrs. Ina Belle Hooper continues ill at her home. SECOND Hi Everybody. Hope everybody had a nice vacation. It will be a year before we get another one. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Brabham and son spent the 4th of July holidays in the mountains. I^VV ** MA V Mltvi Alma Stewart of Ware Shoals spent Sunday with Mrs. Stewart's sister, Mrs. Susie Hawks. Brenda Joan Dove of Hartwell, Ga., spent two weeks with Thelma and Bertha Mae O'Donald. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Walton and little son visited his family in Nicholls, Ga., during the vacation holidays. Mrs. Carl J. Sexton and son of Oklahoma City are visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Braswell at 104 Florence Street, Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. George Turner, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Grady Turner and family spent a few days in Tennessee during the 4th of July. Some of the places they visited were Wander Cave, Ruby Falls, and the Museum in Tennessee. Hazel O'Donald spent two weeks with her uncle and aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Dove of Hartwell, Ga. Mrs. Madeline Dees and children visited Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Dees and family of Laurens during the 4th. Cpl. and Mrs. James W. ! Dees and daughter of Columbus, Ga., spent a few days 1 with Mrs. Madeline Dees and 1 children. ' We are glad Johnnie Butler is back at work after be? ing out two weeks with broken ribs. Charles Robinson, husband of Lucy Robinson, s underwent an operation at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S. C. Beatrice Dyer is at work again. She has been out sick several weeks. The Horizon Club went to the beach the 10th, 11th, and 12th of August. We welcome Martha Burns to our department. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lawson ^ visited his parents in Virginia during the 4th.
