a good lotion or cream is a
must for sensible sunning.
Tartan, for example, will
screen out about 90 per cent
af the burning rays, yet allow
about 90 per cent of the tanning
rays to come through.
And don't forget your suntan
lotion once you've applied it?
reapply it after every swim,
for water washes away even
the best of lotions. So does
excessive perspiration.
To protect your eyes from the
glare of the sun, glasses are
good, pads of absorbent cotton
better. If you choose glasses,
be sure they are dark enough

of Standards specifications.
Cheap glasses, as a rule, are
no bargain.
Your lips need protection,
too, so use a good lip pomade.
You will save yourself from
discomfort ? look better too.
It is not true that your skin
is more likely to burn when
wet, but beware of cloudy or
misty days ? the burning
rays can be just as intense as
when the sun is shining.
Drink plenty of water (anything
with alcohol will make
you feel warmer.) And if you
perspire freely, a few salt tablets
are a good idea. Be sure
to cool off before going for a

hot and the water is cold, the
shock may do your heart no
good.
As the season progresses,
content yourself with a moderate
tan. There is a limit
to how much good you can
derive from the sun, and the
darkest tans ? especially on
girls ? are far from the most
attractive.
Sun time is fun time ? and
health time. too. You can have
more fun, perhaps enjov better
health, by observing the
rules of sun sanity.

last summer. But, we find we
need more information and
suggestions. The next time
you buy gas, ask your service
station attendant for information
and suggestions for the
best route to follow on your
vacation. He will have maps
of many states which contain
excellent suggestions.
Very often, your station at

fill in and mail to the Travel
Bureau of the Company he
represents. You must first determine
which direction you
wish to travel. You might also
write the Chamber of Commerce
along your route. From
these sources you will get the
up-to-the-minute information
that will be a great help to
you.
When requesting aid. give
such information as: when
you are leaving; where you
are leaving from; where you
are going; what route you
wish to follow; and how long
you expect to be gone.

The very foundation of our
great country was built from
the beginning by neighbors
working together. It can go
to great heights if we continue
this practice or fall to
the depths if we forget it.
Today in our modern way
of life we do not have to depend
on our neighbor for protection
from those who steal
in the night neither do we
have to get him to put out
the flame if our home burns
from fire but yet we do depend
on him for the fundamental
things that have been
carried on to us in this mod
ci II age.
We might even stop to ask
ourselves, "Just who is my
neighbor?" Ho doesn't neccessarily
have to live next
door, especially since travel
is so very fast. He may live
around the block, across town
or even in the same state. Yet,
he is your neighbor.
So when you begin to feel
real independent just stop
long enough to ask yourself.
"How long would I last withI
out my n e i g h b o r ? What
would I eat, wear, or even use
for a home?" Good neighbors
> help any community and
somehow always make our
i country even greater. How
about being a good neighbor?
