Snyder, USN, received a discharge July 28 at Charleston Naval Base. So long until next month. Second Soinning, No. 2 By W. N. Nabors Everyone certainly seemed to enjoy the recent vacation week. Some went fishing and some went to the mountains and beaches. , Paul Thornburg stayed , home and baby sat for his sister who went to see their brother at Walter Reid hospital. He said he enjoyed that, too. Mary Thomas was off on Saturday, July 12. Her son, Kenneth, was home on leave 1 from the service. The Goofers Club really enjoyed a chicken dinner at the Jones Cafe in Laurens July 31. Your reporter went fishing during vacation. Caught a , few small catfish. I'm not ; going to tell about the one that got away, though. It was , a BIG one. Ha, ha. Joel Templeton enjoyed a ' week at Natural Bridge, Va., and in Washington during ^ the vacation period. The best of everything to j all of you. j Third Spinning Well, here we are back on ( our jobs again after a wonderful vacation. It means ^ listening to some of the biggest fish tales in the history 1 of the sport, however. More next time from your old timer. 2nd Spinning, Spooling By Gladys Campbell Betty Samples visited relatives in Charlotte during the week of the Fourth. James McElhannon, Betty Samples, Kate Dees and Bud Phipps spent a day at the beach during the fourth. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. "Buddy" Campbell visited in Rock City, Tennessee during vacation week. Vera Patterson visited relatives in Greenwood during tne fourth weekend. Emmie Thomas motored through the Smokies during vacation. We are glad to have Gladys Teague as a new Spinner. Mrs. Lena Roberts and family from Chester visited Mrs. Lena Revis. Mrs. Ora Woods visited Miss Anna Bobo recently. J. W. Chumley had a birthday July 22 and Pete Chumley has his September 28. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Doran spent several days in Lafayette, Ga., due to the illness of Mrs. Doran's mother. We are sorry to hear that Margaret Fortenberry's daughter has been in the lospital for an operation on ier kidneys. Edith Gambrell had a wedding anniversary July 1. Fletcher Perry visited here from Flagstaff. Arizona. R. D. Burke had a birthday July 5. Freddy Hanna spent a veek at his aunt's in Woodruff. Mrs. L. L. Leech gave the introduction and explained the organization of the Girl's Auxiliary. The program was under the direction of Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Mrs. E. C. Burdette gave the charges to the maidens, the ladies in waiting and the princess. Miis: TmntJpnp .Tarkson Pave the charges to the Queen with Scepter and crowned the Queen. Miss Catherine Dunawav was the organist. Maidens were Florence Revis, Linda Corley, Linda Satterfield, Harriet Wilson, Cecilia McLendon, Sandra Mills and Diane Davenport.
