The J. A. Black's the Clothmaker's
Family of the Month
for August, are a popular
group in the Lydia Cotton
Mills Community and are
active in all community
affairs.
J. A. Black, Jr., 35, is an
Electrician at Lydia Cotton
Mills where he has been employed
for a number of years.
He is a member of the Lydia
Presbyterian Church and a
member of the Masons and
the Clinton Moose Lodge.
Mrs. Pauline Rnrnette
Black is the Mother of the
family, also a member of the
Lydia Presbyterian Church.
Helen is the Black's oldest
child, 14 years old. She has
attained many honors and is
a student in the 9th grade of
Clinton High School. She is
vice president of the Wana
Ki Win Horizon Girls, a
member of the Senior High
Fellowship Group, Chairman
of the Presbyterian Christian
Outreach and a member of
the Lydia Youth Canteen.

Mrs. William Brewer. Clinton
Mills, is recovering after
being a patient in the hospital.
Mrs. T. P. Smith, Clinton,
is recovering at home after a
stay in Hays hospital.
The daughter of Margaret
Fortenberry, Lydia Mills, had
been in the hospital for a
kidney operation.
Mrs. Dorothy Davis, Clinton
Mills, is improving after
a stay at Hays hospital.

Academy Street School 1
session have been announced
by Principal D. S. Temple- 1
ton for Monday, August 30.
On this date, only first grade
children will report to the 1
auditorium at 8:30.

The faculty of this school
in the Clinton Mills community
will be the same as last
year except for the addition
of Miss Irene Workman who
will assist with eighth grade

will be held Monday, August
30, from 2 to 4 P. M. All

Land at the Clinton Mills
Community Center if you are
interested in having another
Opportunity School for adults
this fall. Whether the school
will be held or not depends
on the number interested and
the decision will be made
September 1. A very successful
Opportunity School was
held last year with a large
number completing the
courses offered.

was not long enough.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blackwell
and children spent their
vacation in Pensacola, Fla.
The Fulman Hughes and
family visited relatives and
friends in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hawkins
visited Mrs. Hawkins' mother
in Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gallman
spent their vacation at
Myrtle Beach, Charleston and
in the mountains.
Mildred Johnson spent her
week's vacation in the Smoky
Mountains.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carrm

mountains and at Rock City,
Tennessee.
The Keith McGee's spent a
few days at Myrtle Beach.
The F u r m a n Bratchers
spent a few days at the
beach but were called home
due to the death of Mr.
Bratcher's father.

interest in Florida and also
the beach.
Surely do miss Mr. and
Mrs. Furman Hughes who
have gone on the first shift.
Little Mike Campbell celebrated
a birthday July 4. He
is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
