State Orders New
Law To Be Met
Inasmuch as there are some
Clinton-Lydia employees who
raise pigs, it may be of interest
to call their attention
to a new law passed by the
last General Assembly concerning
the feeding of garbage
to swine or collecting
garbage from more than two
families.
This law provides that no
person may feed garbage to
his pigs or collect it fron.
more than two families without
first obtaining a permit
from his County Agent or the
Clemson College Livestock
Sanitary Department. The
law further provides that any
garbage used for this purnncn

processing, must be boiled (at
212 degrees or more) for at
least 30 minutes.
The reason for this law is
to protect both the animals
and the persons consuming
them from diseases starting

YOUR HEALTH
How Much Should You
Weigh?
Not every woman can hope
to have the figure to achieve
the form of a professional
athlete, but it is a fact that
the men and women whose
weight is within normal
limits are the
ones who look
?better. Actually
there are

muscular development, bone
structure and other hereditary

taken into consideration.

that you need to reduce. If
you think you don't eat much
perhaps you are eating the
wrong foods. It's quality not
quantity that counts.
Losing weight is not necessarily
an unpleasant procedure.
You can't eat everything
you want but you
won't starve. It requires determination,
persistance and
will power to take off extra
pounds but it gets easier as
time goes on?and the faithful
are rewarded.
Remember people rarely
overeat because they are
hungry. There is usually another
reason. Family habits or
social customs may be responsihlo

or just eating out. all
make for over indulgence.
Some persons crave food as
compensation for boredom,
inferiority, lack of love or security.
Why do you overeat?
While its healthier to be on
the lean side there's reason in
everything anyone who is 10
to 15 per cent below a normal
weight should make an effort
to gain a few pounds. Occasionally
extreme underweight
denotes the presence
of some disease. Most people
who are too thin are inclined

There's no denying that
persons of normal weight look
better, feel better, and live
longer. Who could ask for
anything more?
Drama Club Has
Fine Production
The Clinton Mills Drama
Club opened its first season
April 13 with the presentation
of "Dixie Strutters." a
hilarious production which
was repeated April 23.
The minstrel had a cast of
25 and the first efforts of this
new organization were well
received bv the large audiences
attending.
The Club plans to present
three productions each year
plus appropriate holiday pageants.
The group meets the
second Monday of the month
in the Clinton Community
building at 7:30.
Democracy
Democracy is the line that
forms on the right. It is the
dent in the hat. It is the recurrent
suspicion that more
than half of the people are
right more than half of the
time. Democracy is a letter
to the editor. It is the score
at the beginning of the ninth
inning.

Big Thoughts
It is a simple thing to be
appreciative, but in the rush
of these times it is the most
neglected.
A Supervisor asked for a
special piece of work, giving
a deadline for its finish. I
wanted this to be an extra
good job. so I spent hours and
hours on its accomplishment.
It was finished on the dot.
With pride. I took it to the
Supervisor.
He looked up from some
ining ne was doing. iNodded.
"Put it there. I'll look at it
when I have time. Almost
late, weren't you?"
Mad through and through,
I went home. At the door
stood my young son beaming.
"Dad, did you see the lawn
and the flower bed?"
I took a quick look and
said. "About time you did
some work around here."
Then I saw the tears and
the look of deep hurt. I knew
how he felt. It made me
think. Perhaps at the moment
I took my work to the Supervisor.
he too was smarting
under an unappreciative repulse.
No matter what it is. if it
has to be done to the best of
one's ability, it is worthy of
appreciation.
