Whitmire and children of the Lydia community as its family of the month for February. Mr. and Mrs. Whitmire live at No. 2 Peachtree St. and both have alwavs been verv active in community activities and church work. Mr. Whitmire has been employed at Lydia Cotton Mills for 15 years. He works on the first shift as a frame tender. He is a member of the Lydia Baptist Church where he is president of the Adult Training Union Class. He also is a member of the Brotherhood. Mrs. Annie Lou Lollis Whitmire worked for six years as a Grader in the Lydia Cloth Room. She is Vice P:esident of the Lydia Woman's Club and is Superintendent of the Primary Department of Lydia Baptist Church. She also is a member of the Worn 'q lVTi <5?ior> a TTninn nr?/-l n member of the Church Choir. Their only daughter, Barbara White, is a member of the 12th grade at Clinton High School. She also is a member of the Beta Club, the Lydia Teen-Age Canteen and Historm <\lu TERRY CAMPBELL celebrated his 13th birthday January 17. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grange Campbell. Barbara is secretary of the Young People's Department of Lvdia Baptist Church and is the ace pitcher for the Clinton cavilettes Softball Team. She is a member or the Y. W. A. and sings in the choir at Lydia Baptist Church. He is in the fifth grade at Providence School and is a member of the R. A. at Lydia Baptist Church. He also is a Cub Scout. It is obvious from this resume of activities that the R. E. Whitmire family is one of the most active in the Lydia community and we are proud to salute them as our "Family of the Month." files his return. Also he and his wife will each get a $600 personal exemption. They are filing a joint return?the best procedure for most couples. Split-second Sally presented her husband with twins just before the stroke of midnight on December 31. Her timing was excellent, because the New Year's Eve babies each provided a $600 exemption for the couple on their 1953 tax. Clinton Mills, was giver a surprise birthday party by hei parents January 30 at the Clin ton Community Building. Pi Cannon-Ward Miss Mary Ellen Cannon became the birde of Ted Ward January 16 at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. J. W. Spillers performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and friends using the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Joe Land, organist, and A. D. Lancaster, vocalist, presented a program of wedding music. A selection also was presented by a quartet composed of Misses Polly Brazil, Nellie Osborne, Mr. Lancaster and M. L. Poole. The bride and groom enter ed together unattended. Immediately following the ceremony the couple left for a short wedding trip to the mountains of North Carolina. Mrs. Ward is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cannon and a graduate of Clinton High School. Mr. Ward is the son of Mrs. Frank Riley. He was recently discharged from the army and is now manager of the Lydia Mills Service Station. Pooles Entertain Choral Groups Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Poole entertained February 7 following church services at the Clinton Community house for both newly organized choral clubs and for the choir of Calvary Baptist Church. The dinning room of the Community building was beautifully decorated and de; lightful refreshments were served. M., Miss Juanita McGinnis became the bride of Wayne Graham. The vows were spoken before an altar flanked with palms, candelabras with lighted tapers and floor baskets of white gladioli and carnations. The officiating minister was Rev. Lee Powers, pastor of the bride. The bride's only attendant was Miss Frances Graham, sister of the groom, and George McGinnis, brother of the bride, served as best man. The bride was attired in light blue gabardine suit with navy accessories and wore a corsage of red rosebuds. The vows were spoken in the presence of the two families and close friends at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. McGinnis. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Odis Graham.
