C. has returned to her home to the sorrow of her many admirers in Pickens. -Miss Blanche Williams has returned to her home in Ashe Ville, N. C., after a most pleas ant visit to Miss Vesta Ashmore. - Rev. D. D. Lander filled his regnlar appointment at the Pick ens Presbyterian church last Sunday and preached two excel lent sermons to appreciative con gregations. -Ed. G. McDaniel, of Forest City, N. C., is spending a time with his father, J. H. G. McDan iel, and other relatives in Pick ens. His many friends are glad to see him looking so well. -Good old friend and neigh mrenus smecerely sympathise with him. -Married in Walterborro, S. C., on July 28th, Mr. Charles L. Mauldin, of Central, to Miss An. nie Simms, of Walterborro. The happy young couple are at home to their friends in Central, S. C., where they are receiving congratulations. -A card fromn our friend L. R. Dalton states that children's Day excercises will be held 'it Mile Creek church next Sunday the 22d instant, to which the public is cordially invited. An interesting program is being ar ranged for the occasion. -At the Wyatt reunion held last week there was a great number of descendants present and an enjoyable time w~as had. Hon. Julius E. Boggs, the oratr of the (lay, spoke on the subject 'A Good Name." "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches." He handled the subjeci well, and we shall give a syno psis of it next week, as our col lums are too crowded to handle it this issue. -There are a number of vis itors in Pickens these (lays They are constantly coming an going, and by the same token, some are also constantly staying and we might also add others ar conantly going. Pickens County Fair Notes. The Pickens County -Fair As sociation will hold the annual Pickens County Fair at Pickens on Wednesday. Thursday and 1'riday, the 22nd, 23rd and 24th. of September. Bear this in min(d and get ready for the Fair. September 22nd. 2rd and 24th, the same being Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, are the dfays fixed for the 1909 Pickens County Fair. Remember the days. Septem 22nd, 23rd and 24th. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, September 22nd. 23rd and 24th 1909 are the days set apart for the Pickens County Fair. An electrical displav will be one attraction at the 1909 Pick ens County Fair. Special farm exhibits in which different exhibitors wil compete for a prize offered for the best collection of farm pro ducts, will be one of the chief at tractions of the Fair. The Pickens County Fair is designed to encourage Pickens, people, and prizes will be offer ed for farm products and ani mals grown in Pickeis County. In fact, everything .grown and raised in Pickens County is peculiarly the sibject of ex bibition. -Born to Mr and Mrs. Frank cFall, of Pickens, on the1 16th instant, a (laughter. -Married by G. W.
