PICKENS, S. C.:
THURSDAY AUGUST 19.1909,
A Fair Proposition.
This is an antithesis, in a sense,
because it is a proposition to hold
a Fair in Pickens Sept. 22-24,
and we ask every reader of this
paper, every citizen of the coun
ty, to get very busy and "make
hay while the sun shines."
There is scarcely five weeks in
which to do what-has to be done,
so it behooves every man, wo
man and child to get busy and
stay busy untill the Fair is pull
eliminated, and now the time
for work is at hand.
All hands and the cook must
work and work hard and fast.
- The sluggard will have to get out
of the way and make room for
the hustler.
The headquarters of the fair
association is a veritable beehive;
orders are being issued to the
chairmen of the various com
mittees, who in turn see that
they are promptly executed.
Each committee sees to it that
the work laid out is quickly and
carefully executed and there will
be no hitches along this line.
The thing we want to impress
upon our readers is the fact that
the time is short and anything
you are asked to do should be
done now. Don't put it off.
On the ready and willing help
of the people depends the success
of the show.
If you are asked to contribute
money to defray expenses or to
make up a premium, or to place
an exhibit of some kind, do so
with cheerfulness. In this way
we will get all the help andassis
tance neede-d and pull off a suc
ces;ful and creditable fair.
We shall not write along this
line again, and if you do not act,
we will take it for granted that
Pickens county people do not
care to progress and advance.
Every indication now points
to a better fair than last year
and the right amount of push
and energy spent, now, at the
right time, and in the right direc
tion, assures success.
The Poultry association has
been asked to join the fair and
make their exhibit at this time.
They have availed themselves
of this opportunity and will
make a most creditable exhibit.
The various committees of the
poultry association are now busi
ly engaged ureparing a premium
list and are meeting with grea
success.
They also have the promis'
from many pieople, not
in t .count',, but elsev

Here's to the success of the
Pickens County Fair.
