BapPenings of a Local and Personal Nature. Mrs. P. H. Boggs is on a visit to relatives in Easley. Mts. W. L. Jenkins is visiting relatives in Greenville. C. E. Robinson made a busi ness trip to Liberty, Saturday. Candidates are beginning to bud out along with the early roses. Miss Mattle Lebby, of Green ville, visited in Pickens last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hagood are visiting the latter's I arents near Elberton, Ga. Rev. B. E. Grandy is at home after an absence of two weeks in Bamberg. A big crowd of the Pickens people attended the all-day sing ing at Enon last Sunday. See the new ads this week; our space is being gradually fill ed up by those who realize that advertising pays. Mrs. J. F. Banister, of Lib erty, spent a portion of this week in Pickens at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Bowen. The Wonien's Missionary So ciety of the Baptist church will meet with Mrs. Middleton Hes ter, Sunday afternoon, at 3.30 o'clock. Rev. N. G. Ballenger delivered a fine sermon to a small but very attentive congregation at the Pickens Methodist Church last Sabbath night. The Pickens Chapter U. ). C. will meet at the home of Miss Maud Ashmore at 4 p. n. Fri day. An interesting progranme has been prepared for the occa sion. Bal. Gi veley, a prominent citizen of Pickens county, has recently been on a visit to his brother, W. W. Graveley, of this vicinity.-[East Fork Cor. Brevard News. At a recent meeting of the Civic League Mrs. Gilreath and Mrs. R. R. Roark were elected delegates to the State Federa tion of Clubs which meets in Greenville, May 5-7. A good crowd attended preach ing at Secona Sunday, it being communion day. In their pas tor the church seems to have a very consistent zealous, and con secrated preacher. Mrs. T. A. Allen, of Pickens, who has been confined to her bed for several months, is repor ted worse, and will be carried to a sanitarium in Greenville, as soon as able to stand the trip. R. L. Davis and wife spent a portion of last week with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. 0. Richey,of the Easley side. While gone Mr. Davis purchas ed a nice wagon for hauling his bottled goods to his customers. The board of county commis sioners at their meeting last Tuesday agreed to extend the. time for the payment of com mutation road tax to the first day of May next, provided the same is paid to the county treasurer. We are happy to state that Miss Viola Gilstrap, Pickens R. F. D. 1, who won the schol arship prize in our late contest, is now taking advantage of the same at the famed Business College and Shorthand Institute in Atlanta.
