Ihe young woman Is still quite ill,
but is now thought to be out of dan
ger.
Sheriff Bowden has a strong guard
around the jail to prevent a lynch
ing.
Prominent citliens went before
.ludge Call, of the circuit court, and it
was decided to call a special grand
jury to hear the evidence in this,
the first case of its kind ever to oc
cur in .Jacksonville. The jury met
Monday and the negro will, no doubt
receive a speedy t,ial.
A strong chain of circumstantial ev

negro. Ile was seen leaving the scene
and the two negroes who saw hint are
held in jail as witnesses.
