Boatwright stressed that
she would like people to
contact her to sign up for
a time slot for the blood
drive. Times are from 11:00
a.m. until 4 pf.m. The more
definitive number of people,
the more money Boatwright
can aim to raise to cover the
$65 cost.
“This way, the Red Cross
will be able to send enough
staff to help cover the
drive,” she said.
To appease those who are
still a little wary of the blood
drive, or perhaps do not
know exactly what happens
when you try to become a
bone marrow donor, take a
deep breath.
When you donate blood,
you are asked questions
like ‘Do you have AIDS?’
or ‘Do you have cancer?’
Once answers are affirmed,
and hopefully you said no,
i
they take one pint of blood
from your body. To donate
bone marrow they will ask
more questions (nothing
you’ll find on the SAT or
that you need to study for)
and if you are eligible, they
take two more tablespoons
of blood.
After they take the blood
they break it down to see
if you are a match. Each
bone marrow transplant
patient will need between
200 and 300 pints of blood
during the treatment, which
makes it highly important
for people to stop by and
donate blood during the
drive.
For each dollar that is
raised, The Red Cross will
match it with 50 cents.
“I cannot wait for Ally to
see the sea of people rooting
for her ... it’ll help her see
to the next day and say,
‘Let’s see what tomorrow
holds,”’ Boatwright said.
To donate your time,
and hopefully your blood,
contact Boatwright at terry_
saltynutcafe@hotmail.com
with the subject Allypalooza.
Boatwright encourages
donors and volunteers to
help with any of the events
to send her their name,
phone number and times
they can help.

HELLO • COflTinUEO PROdl 15
HOBBY AND WHY?
I really like watching a
Korean drama series even
though I’m Chinese.
/
IF YOU HAD A MILLION
DOLLARS, WHAT WOULD
YOU BUY?
I would probably give
it to my parents and tell
them to pay the house off.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST
EMBARRASSING MOMENT?
I really can’t think of
anything.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE
MOVIE AND WHY?
‘Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory’ because it’s so
unusual with all the odd
things and giant candy. I
really like the huge gummy
bears.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST
FEAR?
I don’t want people to
die around me because it
would make me feel sad. I
want all my friends to be
healthy and happy. I also
really hate exams.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY
ANIMAL AS A PET, WHAT
WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
I want a penguin, a panda
bear, a polar bear and an
elephant. I like the polar
bear because it’s like a
Coca-Cola commercial.
I like penguins because
they have the same partner
their whole lives, and I like
pandas because they eat
bamboo.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE
CLASS?
I don’t like class, but
I’m excited about taking
Korean next year.
WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST
DREAM YOU’VE EVER HAD?
I just had one recently. I
had an arranged marriage
with some guy, and I didn’t
like him.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE
TO COME TO USC?
I really like the campus
and it was close to home.
The honors college is a
really good program.
WHAT DO YOU WANT EV
ERYONE WHO IS READING
THIS TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
My friends think that
secretly I’m blonde.
