“It’s hard because you have a lot
of responsibilities, and you have
to work full-time to make
payments.” Norton also now
owns a dog. “It’s hard to have a
pet,” she said.
Norton likes not having to
check in with her parents. She said
she took a recent trip to Clemson
and all her friends had to call home
to check in with their parents.
“I didn’t have to because I’m on
my own and taking responsibility
for myself” she said.

“One thing that I don’t like,
though, is being sick. I’m sick
more, and you don’t have that
family to take care of you,” she
explained. “You have to basically
take care of yourself.”
Buddin said his family misses
him, especially his mom.
“But I think they came to grips
i
with it,” he said, “They’re all right,
they have my sister there to put up
with.” But, he said, “I think my
dog misses me more.”
It sometimes “stinks, not being
with family,” Buddin said. “I
don’t get home cooked meals,” he
said, adding that he also cannot
“play golf whenever I want* for
free” or go to the beach in
Charleston.
But Buddin said he likes “just
getting to hang out with my
friends from school because I
don’t have to worry about school
as much.”

her family anymore because of her
job.
“I miss out on a lot, just like the
everyday stuff,” she said.
One event that Buddin will not

annual “big family get-together” at
his house on Lake Marion for the
Fourth of July.

“In general, 1 do feel safe drinking
at the water fountains on campus
because I’ve seen when there are
problems that they do shut down
the water fountains,.’’ Bedenbaugh
said. “I understand that there is also
a huge financial overtaking to

Instead of being alerted through
tart-tasting water, Bedenbaugh
recommends a more proactive
approach.
“To maintain safe drinking
water at USC, there should be a
test ran in each building to
confirm the safety of the water,”
Bedenbaugh said. “It should be ran
every few months to maintain
safety of students and faculty.”
