Valentine’s screensaver
BY CARRIE GIVENS
ASSISTANT MIX EDITOR
On Feb. 14, students around
campus will be receiving flowers,
giant heart-shaped balloons and
chocolates from their significant
others. Many students will also
buy creative gifts picked for their
special someone. Connecticut
based company Effusive Media is
now offering a unique Valentine’s
Day gift of a personalized “I Love
You” screensaver.
The screensavers, found at
www.iloveyouscreensavers.com,
feature 3-D floating hearts and 3
D “I Love You” text. The recipi
ent’s name can be added to the
screensaver. In addition, the
screensaver comes with a cus
tomize option.
E!ffusive Media said in a news re
lease that its product offers a unique
benefit to people, the ability to say “I
love you over and over again without
ever being in the same room.”
Effusive Media said its screen
savers are perfect for college students
because they are very affordable,
they are a gift that will keep on giv
ing, they “make a kewl dorm even
kewler,” they are easy to purchase
and are a simple way to be original.
Second-year criminal justice
and computer science student
Chris Herring said people “would
consider changing their screen
saver to a scrolling marquee that
said ‘I Love You,’ but who uses
screen savers any more?”
Second-year chemical engi
neering student Ben Meekins said
he thinks the Valentine’s gift of a
screensaver would be too imper
sonal.
“It could be good for someone
that hasn’t been together for too
long if it’s not overly mushy-gushy
romanticism,” Meekins said.
However, Effusive Media said
an “I Love You” screensaver is a
perfect gift that will outlast flowers,
chocolate and possibly the teddy
bear, too.”
There are more than 200 per
sonalized screensavers to choose ,
from. The pre-made screensavers
are $12 and the made-to-order
screensavers sell for $18. The
screensavers require Windows 98,
2000, NT, ME, or XP and Flash
6.0 player. The screensaver is avail
able for download from the Web
site after it has been purchased.
Effusive Media also offers a 14
day trial of the “I Love You”
screensaver at www.ilovey
ouscreensavers.com.
