from some of the South’s major
powerhouse teams, including Clemson,
LSU, Florida State and Tennessee, but
chose the Gamecocks after his visit
Saturday. Sinclair totaled 80 tackles with
nine interceptions last season.
«
Offensively, Carolina picked up
three-star wide receiver Jared Cook of
Suwanee, Ga. Cook also had a long list
of teams chasing him, including Auburn
and Ohio State. He compiled big
numbers last fall, hauling in 32 passes
for 771 yards and 11 scores. Cook
stands at 6-feet-6-inches tall.
USC’s final commitment of the
weekend came from three-star
defensive tackle Lemuel Jeanpierre of
Orlando. Jeanpierre chose the
Gamecocks over big-name teams like
Georgia Tech and Louisville. His 6
foot-4-inch frame makes him
intriguing, and his stats show it.
Jeanpierre racked up 96 tackles with
nine sacks last fall.

■ MOMENTUM
Continued from page 9
These three competitive road
losses left the Gamecocks behind
by only 12 total points to the No.
2, No. 8 and No. 10 teams in the
country. With two easier SEC
opponents in their near future,
LSU tonight in Baton Rouge and
Tennessee Saturday night at the
Colonial Center, the Gamecocks
can solidify a winning attitude
and a winning confidence as they
approach the more difficult side
of their SEC schedule. The
importance of momentum in the
SEC portion of any team’s
schedule is crucial. Playing the
Volunteers and the Tigers a
combined four times last season,
USC went 3-1, losing only to UT
in Knoxville.
As they ready for yet another
top-25 team, No. 18 Mississippi
State a week from Saturday, the
moment has never been better for
the Gamecocks to break through.
