Georgia stormed back from a 19-point, first-half deficit to take a late lead in the game. But USC, down four points with 17 seconds left, drained a pair of three-pointers to send the game to overtime. The Gamecocks then rallied from another five-point deficit to force a second overtime, which Georgia finally won 96 91. Overall, Georgia leads the series between the two schools 21-4, though USC won both games in the 2001-2002 season. Also, according to col legerpi.com, Georgia is ranked 11th overall and has the eighth-toughest schedule in the nation. The two teams will meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Colonial Center for a matchup that will be televised on Fox Sports Net South. Briefly Chappell nominated ) to All-American team Yesterday, USC basketball for ward John Chappell was named to the Verizon All-District All American team. Chappell has a 3.89 GPA and his name will now be forwarded to the All-American committee for national consideration. He is an international business stu dent. This is a first-time honor for Chappell, and he is the first Gamecock under coach Dave Odom to receive the award. Chappell has made the Dean’s list at USC four times and the President’s list one time. He is scheduled to graduate in three and a half years and has k been named to the SEC Academic " Honor Roll twice. Colonial Center full for Kentucky game Wednesday afternoon the USC department announced that the men’s basketball game on March 3 is sold out. The sellout marks the earliest a game in the two year-old Colonial Center has been sold out. Kentucky squeaked out a vic tory over USC in its first meet ing of the season, 65-64 in Lexington. The matchup in March could possibly be for the SEC East Championship. This marks the fourth sellout of the Colonial Center this sea son, the others being LSU, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. As of Wednesday, there were still tickets available for the Feb. 28 game against Georgia.
