Construction on
Drayton Hall
began In 1738 and
took four years to
complete. Built
along the banks of
the Ashley River in
Charleston, the
house remains in
almost original
condition and is
the oldest
plantation open to
the public in the
United States.

local snakes—lots of snakes — to
crocodiles, the attraction features
both indoor and outdoor exhibits,
and, of course, a gift shop.
♦ MEDICAL LEECH MUSEUM,
THE GADSEN HOUSE, 329 EAST
BAY ST., CHARLESTON: They are
not the world’s most lovable crea
tures, and they are certainly not
very attractive. But they do have
their own museum in the
palmetto state where you can
learn everything that you ever
wanted to know — and assuredly
more than a few things that you
never hoped to know — about
medical usage of these blood-suck
ing creatures.
♦ the rice Museum, 633
FRONT ST., GEORGETOWN:
According to the attraction’s Web
site, the museum celebrates “rice
culture in Georgetown County.”
Get your fill of regional flair and,
well, rice at the same time. True
fact: In the 1840s, Georgetown pro
duced nearly half of the country’s
rice crop.
♦ BMW ZENTRUM AND
GALLERY, 1400 HIGHWAY 101
SOUTH, GREER: They not only
make some sleek-looking luxury
cars, but they have a heck of a
building for showing them off.
The museum houses a collection
of, you guessed it, BMW-produced
vehicles from motorcycles to an
M3 Formula II race car.
♦ DRAYTON HALL, 3380
ASHLEY RIVER RD., CHARLESTON:
No, not USC’s Drayton Hall —
Charleston’s Drayton Hall re
mains the oldest preserved plan
tation house in the country that is
open to the public. Check out this
integral piece of the South’s his
tory and see a picturesque exam
ple of Palladian architecture.

HOROSCOPES
ARIES Another person might
be able to express your
position better. Provide
leadership and motivation,
and let someone else pick the
right words.
TAURUS You and your
sweetheart have a nonverbal
understanding. Do something
special to let him or her know
you care, even though you’ve
been busy.
GEMINI Your friends would
like to help you become a
smashing success. They can’t
do it all, of course, but do
accept their support.
CANCER When the action is
fast and furious, it’s easy to
forget that you’re doing it all
for love. Make some technical
improvements while you’re'
at it.
LEO Set bigger goals and
increase your influence. With
an expert’s help, you can find a
way around old fears.
VIRGO Financial choices must
be made, some prompted by
necessity. The better you keep
track of details, the more
control you’ll have overall.
LIBRA You may not have
thought you loved your work,
but today should be kind of
fun. And if you’re working
with somebody you love, it
should be even better.
SCORPIO It’s probably best if
you don’t talk much about
your current plans. You‘11
make a better impression by
simply doing what you said
you would.
SAGITTARIUS Before you
abandon an idea you’d like to
pursue due to a lack of funds,
study it further. There may be
another way.
CAPRICORN Let your, friends
talk you into believing that
everything will be OK. You’re
usually the one spreading this
message, and you’ll soon be
the voice of optimism once
again.
AQUARIUS You’re a visionary
and an idealist. No reason you
shouldn't be wealthy, too. Give
it some thought.
PISCES You’re passionate, but
don’t do anything you might
regret. Conditions are still best
for research, so keep doing
your homework.
