THE GAMECOCK ♦ Wednesday, July 23, 2003 5 y IEWPOINTS IN OUR OPINION Campus cable should play 90.5 This fall, WUSC will expand its reach from a 40-mile radius around Columbia Hall to around the world, thanks to the return of its online radio. With such an international appeal, it's a shame that Gamecock Cable, broadcast to students living on campus, would have a commercial radio station playing in the background of its preview channel. It could be playing a station that is an integral part of the university, receives funding from the university and is Dart of the universitv’s mission. WUSC was created in the 1940s to provide a musical outlet for both those playing and those listening. While 93.5 FM's mission is to generate cash, 90.5 FM exists to educate, giving interested students the opportunity to participate in their college ommunity. In other words, 90.5 FM enriches its listeners while 93.5 serves up little more than homogenous rock. WUSC is run by students, and USC's cable service exists as a part of USC's media, which includes radio and electronic journalism. The cable logically should carry the student radio channel. More importantly, it would increase WUSC's reach not only to the world but to its true market, our campus. And when it's not the Greens, it's their so-called opposition, the Libertarian Party. These two megaparties have lorded over American politics for far too long. We need parties worth fight ing for, parties that don't run cronies of the libertine-environ mentalist superstate. Americans feel alienated by the two-party system because there's no real difference be tween the alternatives. It's time we broke out of the phony "left right" spectrum between two lookalike parties. We need real choice in America, and that means third parties. And if you ask me, I think Americans want commu nism. The Communist Party USA is a good choice. With your help, it just might sweep the blood-suck ing bourgeoisie off the face of the Earth, possibly in bloody revo lution. Here are the pros. First, the Party refers to Itself in upper case. It also- trumps the Progressive Alliance for radical chic. Your red membership card will impress both oppressed workers and spoiled rich kids alike. But on the other hand, the par ty also claims that economic rev olution is inevitable. Capitalism will give rise to socialism, just like bread gives rise to moldy bread. So, if they've already won, why vote for them? Still, the Green party is re vealed for the pasty white coun terfeit that it is, next to the CPUSA's Marxism. But if you're looking for the real right-wing, check out the Falangists. Christian fascism has been maligned by some of its critics, but the American Falangist Party is working to change that. It's inspired by the form of fas cism promoted by Spain's Gen. Franco. Imagine a boot stomping in a human face, forever. So, when you vote for some one who doesn't have a chance of winning, you're sending a mis sile of fear right, straight to the heartstrings of the enviro-mari juana complex that so domineers the politics in this country, a country we dare to call a democ racy.
