Myrtle Beach. Hilton Head Island. With spring break less than one month away, these words are tossed around quite often among eager students. We see it on television every year. Whether it’s MTV’s “Spring Break Undercover” or commer cials for “Girls Gone Wild: Spring Break Edition,” the partying seems to be nonstop — although most college students would prob ably rather not share their expe riences with America. Many minds associate spring break with beaches and parties, but some stu dents have a lot more than sun bathing planned this year. Some students think about the drinks they will be served, but others think about serving in a to tally different way — community service. A popular service project for students is Habitat for Humanity. “A couple spring breaks ago, I did Habitat for Humanity,” third year print-journalism student Miranda Reilly said. “It was a fun experience, and I got to meet a lot of new people.” While community service may not seem the most obvious spring break activity, many students find fulfillment in it. More information on Habitat for Humanity’s spring break projects is available at www.habitat.org. However, many students seem to enjoy a break filled with rest and relaxation. Some students find this relax ation catching up on sleep at home, but others desire a more tropical location. “I’m planning to go on a cruise to the Bahamas with some friends for four days of fun with the girls, and I am sure we are going to have the full college spring break expe rience,” third-year public-rela tions student Sarah Lempesis said. Sandy beaches and clear oceans aren’t the only travel destinations of USC students. First-year business student J.K.
