Somebody’s got to help.” As for the team’s bowl chances, Frye believes it’s still possible to end on a positive note. “We’re going to try to salvage the season by going to a bowl game,” he said. Cabinet News : Freshman Council Advisors, Nick Long and Kaleta Brown, would like to inform the student body that, in an effort to motivate and boost the morale of the USC football team for this year's Clemson game, Freshman Council is sponsoring a Gamecock Player Appreciation event. University 101 and Residence Hall dorm floors are competing to sponsor as many players as possible ($10.00 per player) to win a signed jersey by the football team and Coach Holtz. Each player will receive a gift of appreciation sponsored by the Residence Hall floor or University 101 class. Sponsorship money is due by Monday, November 18th in the Student Government office. Announcements from the Director of Safety, Katie McClendon: • Because the Critical Mass bike ride was such a success with 25 riders, the Safety Committee has decided to make it a monthly event. The next Critical Mass bike ride will be Thursday, November 21st at 5:30pm. Routes will vary for each ride. • McClendon is working on creating a self-defense course offered by the University that would be available as Physical Education credit. Anyone interested in helping to plan or if anyone thinks he or she would take the class, please email Katie at mcclendo@gwm.sc.edu. • McClendon is also forming a Student Safety Committee for any students who would like to discuss and work to alleviate safety concerns. If you are interested, please email Katie at the above address Abey Coker, Chairwoman of the Service Council, would like to remind the student body that On November 16, the Office of Community Service will be sponsoring a sleep-out starting at 7:00pm on Davis Field called "A Night without a Home" to raise awareness about the homeless. Students will eat soup meals and build cardboard houses to sleep in to get a taste of what life is like to be homeless for the night. The registration fee of $5.00 will go to the Habitat Build.
