Student Government is proud to announce that once a week it
will publish announcements and updates in an effort to open
up communications with the student body and to better inform
the student body of its goals and accomplishments.
Executive News :
The Board of Trustees with unanimous support approved the Student Activity Fee Increase,
proposed by Student Body President Ankit Patel and Student Body Treasurer Becky Floyd.
The new activity fee will give the following:
• $10.00 to Carolina Productions • $3.00 to Late Night Carolina
• $5.00 to the Russell House Student • $2.00 to Student Government
Union Advisory Board
Student Body President Patel will hold a meeting Wednesday, October 23rd at 4:00pm in the
Student Government office to discuss amendments to the Constitution.
All organizations that have not completed their renewal paperwork are asked to do so or they
will not be able to enjoy the benefits of being a registered organization.
Patel would like to remind the Student Body that a new Student Government Committee, the
Food Service Committee, has been established, and is looking for one freshman, one
sophomore, and one student in his or her 3rd or 4th year. Meetings are on the first Monday of
the month, along with other occasional meetings throughout the month. The first informational
meeting will be on the 26th of October. Applications are available in the SG office.
Student Body Vice President, Katie Dreiling, encourages campus organizations to take
advantage of the new liaison program in the Senate that provides organizations with the
opportunity to ask questions and express concerns that will be heard in the weekly senate
meetings.
Organizations who have not yet applied for a senate liaison can do so by picking up a liaison
sheet in Dreiling’s office in the Student Government office in the Carolina Mall.

“Daccus is the kind of player
that doesn’t look that good in
shorts. But he moves the ball down
the field effectively. He doesn’t
break off a lot oflong runs, but he
gets you consistent yardage.”
Skip Holtz praised Jenkins’ im
provement while saying there still
is work to be done.
“Corey did some good things
against LSU,” he said. “He is im

Brewer in bad shape
Senior tailback/wide receiver
Ryan Brewer was in the hospital
Monday and Tuesday suffering
from a stomach ailment and de
hydration. Brewer also had his
left ankle put in a cast after suf
fering a high ankle sprain against
LSU.
Brewer is one of Carolina’s
toughest players, but he could
miss the Tennessee game.
“Today was the first practice I
can recall that Ryan Brewer has
missed since he’s been here, and,
to be honest, it wasn’t the same out
there without him,” Lou Holtz said
Monday.
Injury report
Offensive tackle Jeff Barnes suf
fered a sprained wrist Saturday,
but X-rays were negative. Other in
jured Gamecocks include Rashad
Faison, Gonzie Gray, Dennis
Quinn and Watts Sanderson
(sprained ankles); Andrea Gause
(sprained knee); and Ricardo
Hurley (pulled hamstring).
Center C. J. Frye, who had knee
surgery three weeks ago, returned
to practice Monday.

go all out when they score a goal;
they have mastered the art of cre
ative celebration. And yet, when
they celebrate, the crowd loves it
and the opponent shrugs it off.
Why can’t this be the case in foot
ball?
Everyone needs to stop being a
baby. Did anyone see Salisbury
yell at Owens on ESPN? Stuart
Scott should have stuck a pacifier
in his mouth.
The NFL is too restrictive of its
athletes, in general. Peyton
Manning wanted to honor Johnny
Unitas’ death by wearing black
high-top sneakers like Unitas used
to back in the day. The NFL
wouldn’t let him.
It’s starting to get ridiculous.
Does the league want personali
ties it can market and make mon
ey from? Does the league want rat

Weekly Awards
Pimp Daddy of the Week:
Tyrone
Willingham
Notre Dame is 7
0, and with barely
anybody on of
fense. He brought a
winning attitude
Bend, and it’s good Willingham
to see the Irish
back as a national power. The big
test comes Saturday versus Florida
State. Chris Rix better watch out.
Toolbox of the Week:
Jackie Sherrill
Salisbury might need a pacifi
er, but Mississippi State’s head
coach needs diapers, a bib and a
rattle. Sherrill’s been whining
about the referees for his team’s
misfortune.
Coach, it’s not the officials. It’s
your players — they’re really bad.
Quote of the Week:
“The only thing that would make
this deal sweeter was if Dan
(Marino) was with me.” — Cris
Carter after signing a deal to come
out of retirement and play for the
Dolphins
Even a gimpy, 40-something
Marino would be better than Ray
Lucas. And while we’re at it, let’s
bring back Larry Czonka, too. And
Mark Duper.
