SUMTER ST. The victim said
someone threw a cup of water
on her as she walked through
McBryde Quad. She said the
water was thrown from
Philip Johnshon’s room on
the Alpha Tau Omega ha'l.
The reporting officer wasn’t
able to contact Johnson.
Other residents on the hall
said Johnson didn’t mean to
throw the water. Reporting
officer: J.A. Henry.

MAIN ST. The victim said
while Brad David Buchner
was in his room playing video
games, he took the victim’s
driver’s license and
photocopied it to make a fake
ID. The victim said Buchner
admitted the theft and
returned the license and
photocopy. Reporting officer:

stead of me and Becky’s plat
form,” Beeks said. “He would
look a whole lot better than I
would.”
Shaw said they had planned
to hold a debate with only presi
dential candidates David
Bornemann and Ankit Patel, un
til Bornemann canceled Monday
night.
“They originally said they
didn’t have a conflict, but then
Chrissy Stauffer called and said
she did,” Shaw said.
Bornemann said he didn’t
know a specific time for the de
bate until Monday night.
“I had gotten out of a couple
of tests last week and tried to
reschedule this week, so my
class conflicted with the debate,”
Bornemann said. “I wish there
had been a way to schedule it at
a better time for everyone.”
Shaw said he believes the
short amount for planning was
the main reason the debate had
to be canceled.
“Basically, I sat by the tele
phone for two hours and orga
nized the thing, and then sat by
the phone for another two hours
and unorganized it,” Shaw said.
“It was a very concerted effort,
but it wasn’t meant to be this
year.”

from time to time. I think there
are few college-aged students
who don’t. If they don’t, I ap
plaud them for that choice.... I
would be surprised to know il
anyone else in any of the cam
paigns has not had a sip of alco
hol before they were 21,” he said.
Bornemann said he doesn’t
believe underage drinking is un
ethical if it’s done in moderation.
“I think college-aged students
are mature enough, by in large,
to handle moderate qualities ot
alcohol,” he said.
Bornemann said he doesn’t
believe alcohol has been a bad
influence on him.
“I am definitely not an alco
holic by any means... just wrong
.
place, wrong time, unlucky. My
parents told me I must be the
most unlucky kid in college.”
Bornemann said he doesn’t
think he will receive any more
tickets.
“I rarely go downtown unless
it’s for a private party. I really
don’t see it happening again, but
who’s to say?” he said.
“I can just guarantee I won’t
do anything to hurt the reputa
tion of SG or the campus.”
No records were found indi
cating that presidential candi
date Ankit Patel has ever re
ceived any charges for illegal ac
tivities.

And she said Patel’s position
heading First Mentors gives him
unique leadership qualities.
“I think that somebody who
has their leadership fostered in
community service will be a
very good public servant,” Bala
said.
Kaleta Brown, a presidential
candidate who was knocked out
of the race in the first round,
also said she supports Patel.
She said she was behind the SG
parliamentarian “110 percent.”
“I’m swinging all my support
to Patel,” Brown said in an in
terview after the results of the
first round were announced.
Brown said she thought that
she and Patel both focused on
similar themes during the elec
tions.
“I feel like we genuinely care
about the students’ concerns,”
she said.
Brown, who got 495 votes in
last week’s election, said she
would urge her supporters to
cast their ballots for Patel this
week.
She said she would devote as
much energy to getting out her
voters for Patel’s campaign as
she had done for her own.
“I’ll be pushing just as hard
for them to vote for him,” she
said.
Patel said he was pleased
with the endorsements.
“I think that it lets the stu
dent body know that we have a
wide range of support” from
both SG officers and others,
Patel said.
Patel’s campaign said the
two would help Patel by speak
ing to organizations and cam
paigning on Greene Street.
Bristow has not endorsed a
presidential candidate.
Harden’s support for Floyd
became clear when he volun
teered to take her place when
Floyd couldn’t make a debate
scheduled by the South
Carolina Student Legislature
and the NAACP.
That debate was later can
celed when Floyd’s opponent,
Terrance Beeks, and Patel’s ri
val, David Bornemann, both
backed out.
It’s unclear how much en
dorsements help candidates in
an SG election.
After he came in second in
last year’s vice presidential
race, then-Sen. Nathan White
got the endorsements of former
competitors Brian Hunter and
Adam Bourne in his runoff
against Bala. Though White
closed the gap from the first
round, Bala still won the runoff.
