“We’ve been seeing a lot of emotion
. from our players the last couple of games,”
he said, “and Clemson is always a good
team to bring out the best. There is go
ing to be a lot of emotion in this game.”
This season, the Tigers have been
averaging 76.8 points a game and al
lowing 62.8. They are on a four-gdme
winning streak, and the journey to Frank
■McGuire Arena will mark the first road
trip for the Tigers this season.
The Tigers are led by junior guard
Will Solomon. Solomon has scored in
double figures for 36 consecutive games.
This season, he is averaging 19.5 points
a game. He also led the Atlantic Coast
Conference in scoring last season and was
named to the All-ACC first team.
Senior center Adam Allenspach is
Clemson’s main man in the paint, lead
ing the team with 48 rebounds for the
year and averaging 12 points a game.
Freshman guard Tony Stockman is third
on the team in points scored, averaging
11.7 points per game.

er to Tennessee Tech, the Gamecocks
have not lost again at home, posting a
3-1 home court record and registering
wins over South Carolina State, Wofford
and Mercer. USC is averaging 72.5 points
a game while only giving up 67.5.
Sophomore forward Chuck Edson
leads the Gamecocks in scoring with 12.7
points a game. He has also been shooting
well from the line this season, making 83
percent of his free throws.
On Tuesday night against in-state ri
val The Citadel, Kitchmgs scored a ca
reer-high 21 points and pulled down eight
rebounds. He is currently leading the team
in rebounds with an average of six per
game.
Junior guard Aaron Lucas has proven
to be the Gamecocks’ best outside shoot
er so far, as he has a .429 field goal per
centage on 3-pointers. Junior guard Jamel
Bradley is averaging 10 points agame and
is hitting 28 percent off his three-point
attempts.
Game time for the teams’ 151th meet
ing is set for 7 p.m. Carolina leads the
overall series, 82-68.

Over the off-season, the Car
olina track team has been dedicat
ed to improving their endurance
and readying themselves for the
competition that lies ahead of them.
The Gamecocks begin their year
Jan. 12 at the Armory Collegiate
track meet in New York, N.Y. On
ly a handful of teams from around
the nation have been invited to this
event, and track fans will be able
to see some of America’s best track
and field athletes in competition for
the first time since the Olympic
Games in Sydney.
The Gamecocks will go into this
meet as one of the favorites, as both
the men and the women are ranked
among the top teams in the nation.
Frye expects his team to fare
well at their first competition.
“We are definitely one of the
better teams that is going to be there,
and it is actually an honor to have
been invited to this meet,” he said.
“The team should fare well at
the meet, but this is only the be
ginning of the season for us, and I
expect the team to improve in their
performance overall as the season
progresses.”
