Killer B ’ s dominate competition in 2000
Not since 1977 when Randy Martz, Jim Lewis
and Ed Lynch pitched every inning of USC’s game
sin the College World Series has USC had a three
some as formidable as the “Killer B’s.”
. Kip-Bouknight: 17-1,2.81 ERA.
Peter Bauer: 13-2,3.11 ERA.
Scott Barber: 9-2,2.96 ERA.
The pitching of these three Gamecocks propelled
the Gamecocks into the No. 1 spot in the national
' polls for most of the year.
All three were drafted in the June 5 Major League
Baseball draft. Bauer went to the Toronto Blue Jays
in the second round, Barber was taken by the Ari
zona Diamondbacks in the sixth round and Bouknight
was chosen by the Oakland A’s in the 21st round.
