ID Cards serve many purposes
by Bob Askins
Office of Information Technology
It’s an ID card. It’s a phone card. It’s a dis
count card for cultural events.
The USCard, the University of South Carolina’s
multi-purpose photo-identification card, is all of
these things and more.
There are an incredible number of features packed
into this credit card-sized piece of plastic.
It’s a veritable Swiss Army knife of cards and
one of the most important items to keep on hand for
campus life.
You need a USCard to pick up student tickets
for athletic events and for admission at the gate.
A student card is good for a discount at most
University sponsored concerts, plays and other cul
tural events.
It is also good for discounts at a number of lo
ad movie theaters.
If you live in on-campus housing, the USCard
may be the key to your residence hall.
And, if you have a meal plan or cash card, that’s
on the card as well.
You can even run it through a little device in
the Registrar’s Office to get a self-service printed
copy of your class schedule.
Guard your Card
Etch student who registers for classes at USC
I
Columbia will be issued one identification card free
of charge.
. I*', - . -.A--.
If you lose your card, there is a $10 charge to
replace it, so hang on to your card. You could be
subject to disciplinary action for lending an
identification card to anyone; for failing to present
a student identification card when requested to do
so by a University official; lor possessing more titan
one student identification card or for possessing an
other student's identification card.
The USCard is engineered to last at least four
years (.that's 25.000 Ilex test cycles in engineering
speak). It will be valid throughout your university
career even if you leave the University and re-en
roll at a later dale.
