With the University's bicentennial in 2001 rapidly approaching, your experience here will be especially memorable.
At this meaningful time, the University offers you exciting possibilities;
• With 350 degree programs and a nationally respected faculty, Carolina's academic opportunities provide both
breadth and depth;
• In the last five years, our Office of Fellowships and Summer Programs has aided USC students in winning 114
national scholarships and fellowships totaling more than $3 million;
• Thomas Cooper Library is ranked 47th in the nation for overall library quality and has outstanding collections of
materials by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Charles Darwin, and Joseph Heller;
• Construction will soon begin on the Strom Thurmond Fitness and Wellness Center for students, a state-of
the-art facility/ that will include a four-court gymnasium; 19,000 square feet of cardiovascular, weight, and
exercise equipment; a three-story climbing wall: a natatorium; an outdoor pool; aerobics rooms; and squash
and racquetball courts;
• Carolina boasts more than 250 clubs and organizations, and students are heavily involved in community
service.
