On the other hnd, finance sophomore Nithya Bala

“It was fun betause either way you didn’t lose,”
Bala said.
Finance/intemtional business sophomore Ryan
Stilling agreed with 3ala, saying it was good that every

time and that she thcught “a bunch of other people liked
what they got.” Stiling won a Lou Holtz autographed
football and a VCR.
Stilling received a ticket to the basketball game
when she w&s spotted Feb. 23 in the lobby of Preston
wearing her long-sleeved Housing T-shirt. About four
members of the USC Police Department Bicycle Pa
trol scouted certain areas of campus at certain times un
til 25 students were found wearing the Housing T-shirts.
T-shirts were awarded to 225 students-for wearing
housing stickers on their shirts on either Feb. 9 or 16.
All on-campus students received stickers and instruc
tions in the mail, and off-campus students could have
gone to the Housing department to pick up a sticker.
Director of Housing Administration Gretchen
Koehler said the sweepstakes have produced success
ful advertising for Housing each of its four years.
“We came up with the idea as a way to get students
excited about, involved in and aware of the sign-up
process. We thought we could get students to do our
advertising, but it’s still fun for them,” Koehler said.
“The last thing we want is for students to miss out
because they weren’t aware [of the sign-up times].”
Sign ups for Honors and Nada took place Tuesday.
Sign ups for Preston and McBryde will take place to
day, and sorority sign up will be Thursday. Sign up for
other housing will occur online via USC’s Web site VIP
from March 22 to March 31.

“The river road is not a possibility

Once the deal is complete, Smith said
the company’s assets would be frozen,
leaving them unable to sign a contract
or agreement on the road. She said that
could happen at any moment.'
“It could happen tonight,” Smith said
Scott said the Council had pushed Tar
mac to use the river road.
•
“We have tried and tried,” she said.
The Council had talked to the company
until they were “so deep in snow we al
most couldn’t get out of there,” she added.
Smith said it was unlikely the coun
cil would vote on the matter. She said the
council would count on Scott, who rep
resents the mill neighborhoods, to bring
up the proposal for any vote.
“She represents the area,’vSmith said.
“We would depend on her to bring some
thing to us.”
Scott said she planned to vote against
the plan if it comes before Council. She
, said she planned on reporting the results
to council and expected the body to vote
on the proposal.
