Scholarships up to $30.000
The South Carolina Police Corps offers scholarships of up to $7,500 per
year, for four years of college, to seniors, juniors and sophomores attending college
full-time. This is a reimbursable scholarship, so students may apply for funds back
to their freshman year.
Those accepting the scholarship will be required to serve as a law enforcement
officer in South Carolina for four years at one of 12 participating law enforcement
agencies. Students begin their commitment after completion of their bachelor’s
degree.
Participants are selected on a completitive basis including those criteria
required for a law enforcement officer. Police Corps cadets will undergo 16 weeks
of challenging police training, while earning $250 a week. Training will be conducted
during the summer months, between the spring and fall semesters, on The Citadel
campus. After receiving their bachelor’s degree, participants will complete their
final phase of Police Corps training. At the conclusion of Police Corps training,
cadets will start their commitment with their selected law enforcement agency.
