from his vehicle by unknown means. The
investigation continues.
Jan. 15
• Driving under the influence. 400 Pick
ens St. While on patrol, officer observed
truck traveling south on Pickens Street at
a high rate of speed. Officer observed ve
fr
hide cross the railroad tracks at 400 Pick
ens St. almost going airbom. Officer also
observed subject’s vehicle driving left of
the center line. Officer activated blue lights
and stopped the vehicle at 100 Pickens St.
A strong odor of alcohol was noticed as
the officer approached the subject’s ve
hicle. The subject attempted unsuccess
fully to remove his license from his wal
let when the officer asked. Subject said he
consumed three beers when asked by the
officer. Officer asked subject to exit the
vehicle to undergo field sobriety tests.
Subject performed poorly on all tests giv
en. Subject was then placed under arrest
and placed in the front passenger side of
the patrol vehicle. Officer returned to find
subject had spat on the patrol vehicle wind
shield and officer asked for caged vehicle
to respond. Subject then refused to be
handcuffed and necessary force was used
to detain subject. Subject continually used
profanity and downgrading statements
to officers, beginning at the traffic stop.

Interested students can choose which
school they would like to tutor at, which
teacher they would like to help and at
what time they would like to tutor the
students. GFK offers its services to more
than a dozen local schools.
This semester, CFK has decided to
tutor at places besides schools. Members
P can also work at the Epworth Children’s
Home and The Salvation Army as part of
an after-school program.
“These people came to us for help,
and we are offering our services to them,”
Winslow said
CFK provides carpools for students
without a means of transportation.
Placement officer Faiyaz Dossaji said
he has enjoyed tutoring students.
“Working with the kids for an hour
and seeing their improvements is my fa
. vorite part,” Dossaji said. “At the end of
the semester, I know I’ve really made a
difference.”
