Welcomes New USC Students
Thomas Cooper library offers you:
• quiet study spaces and small group study rooms
• a computer lab with over 150 computers for word processing, sending e-mail, and surfing the net,
plus an image scanner and a typewriter
• photocopiers, the reserve desk, and interlibrary loan service
• thousands of journals, magazines, newspapers, subject indexes, on virtually any topic in paper,
microform and electronic formats - and, of course, millions of books
• special libraries for science, education, government documents, maps, and rare books, and separate
libraries for business, music, math, and South Caroliniana materials
• access from your computer in your dorm room to new web-based subject indexes and encyclopedias,
as well as the libraries' online catalog, USCAN
and
HELP!
Reference Librarians are on duty to help you learn to use the library and our resources, and to
assist you with those tough research problems. Circulation staff and student shelvers can assist
you with finding items located in the seven story Thomas Cooper Library building. (BTW five of
those floors are underground).
