Student Media Russell House University Union • 3rd Floor • 803/777.3888 Student-Media at The University of South Carolina offers students the opportunity to gain experience in print and broadcast media, advertising sales and graphic design. All students are invited to participate in Student Media regardless of major, year in school or previous experience. Volunteer and paid positions are available. Involvement in Student Media can be both fun and rewarding. In addition to obtaining specialized skills, many students have used their experience with Student Media to earn internships and jobs following graduation. The Gamecock Check us out 3 times a week! The Gamecock, USC’s student newspaper, is published on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the fall and spring semesters. With a readership of 27,000, The Gamecock is available to students, faculty and staff free of charge at over 50 locations on and around campus. Interested students are invited to join the staff and work in areas such as reporting, writing, editing, photography, advertising sales, marketing, layout, design, production and distribution. Subscriptions Get a subscription to The Gamecock student newspaper and keep up with campus news. The Gamecock is published three times per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the fall and spring semester. One year subscriptions are $50. Cash/check/MasterCard/VISA/Discover accepted. WUSC-FM Tune in at 90.5 FM! WUSC-FM is the 2500 watt noncommercial, educational, tree-format student radio station at USC, broadcasting 12 to 24 hours per day at 90.5 FM. The station introduces new music and provides alternative programming for its listeners, including specialty programs focusing on a single genre of music such as blues, punk, ska, country, acoustic, and jazz. All students interested in radio production, announcing, music reviewing or promotion are invited to join WUSC: Garnet & Black Look for us November 10, February 16 and March 29! Garnet & Black magazine is Student Media’s newest print publication, formed in 1994 as a consolidation of the University’s former yearbook and literary magazine. This student magazine focuses on the issues of general interest to the Carolina community and includes a literary section featuring student literary and other creative work. Interested students are invited to join the staff and work in areas such as writing, editing, photography, advertising sales, marketing, layout, design, production and distribution.
