Eddie Fogler knew he'd be losing five
seniors at the beginning of last season.
By the end of the season, that number
increased to six when Hagen Rouse
decided not to return.
Fogler would have to recruit for need
this year more so than in any other.
That need was size.
In turn, Fogler signed six new players,
none of whom stands shorter than 6foot-7-inches.

Eddie Fogler said. "We are particularly
happy with what these six individuals
have accomplished off the court as well,
and we are looking forward to working
with each of them in our program starting
this fall.
"With that said, we will be a very
young team next year with seven
freshmen (including redshirt center Tbny
Etchings) and three sophomores, giving
us 10 freshmen or sophomores out of
our top 13."
Chuck Eidson (SF)
Eidson is USCs highest-rated recruit
As a senior at Pinewood Prep in
Summerville, Eidson (6-7,190) led the
state in points per game (30.1), while
also averaging 12.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists
and 3.8 steals per game.
Eidson was named South Carolina
Player of the year by USA Tbday and

Ivan Howell (SF)
Howell was part of Lower Richland's
AAAA championship team this past
season. He chose the Gamecocks over
Coastal Carolina on signing day.
Howell (6-7,195) led the nationally
ranked Diamonds with 18.5 points a
game during their 28-3 campaign.
In addition to his scoring average,
his 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.9 assists
earned him all-state, all-region and allarea
honors.
