Currently, Penny is working with a
group of USC filmmakers on a mmgammmmm
short film called "Weight of the
World," which is about "childhood
innocence lost" and is shot
inside the old Columbia Cor- I
rections Institute.
Scheduled for completion by
the beginning of May, the 18minute
film will be entered in
festivals and competitions.
"You can't do much with a
short film; there just aren't a
whole lot of people buying. But 1
you can use it as a kind of I
calling card," Penny said. I
Local festivals such as the
Colossal Film Crawl, and small
er theaters like the Nickelodeon,
give the public exposure to
small, independent films.
"Its mostly smaller, independent
films made here, but
there are some big budget
movies made in the area also,"
Penny said. H|
